Too Late

To me, it's about falling in love and never forgetting your first true love; savoring every moment--even when death do you part, you can't help but to call on the one who will always be watching over you.

To me, the title says a lot. It sounds like he was Too Late in saving a loved one from dying. "I look into your eyes Diving into the ocean" is like a metaphor for looking into someone's eyes as they are dying and going into the great unknown... or the afterlife. "I look into your eyes Falling" describes the eyes falling back. "Like a wall of stars We are ripe to fall" explains that everyone of us can fail (Too Late) or die at any moment. "And if you are a ghost I'll call your name again" explains his pain and guilt in losing this loved one in a more literal way. "You always" explains that he will always live with the pain. I love this song.

I think of it more like...this person found the love of their life, their soul mate. But for whatever reason they can’t be together. They fell in love and had an intense love affair but knew it wasn’t in the stars for them to be together forever, they’d eventually fall. They were too late to truly have this person. The guy who shared this song with me 10 years ago is that person for me. Such a beautiful song filled with so many emotions.
