Saving Lives Lyrics
Does he know all the things I say to you?
Or am I just wasting my breath on some unspoken truth?
Don't expect me to heal your wounds,
'Cause I don't wanna hear my name,
When you're alone, alone, alone again.
I just wanna feel the same, feel the same, feel the same.
'Cause if you ever go...
I don't think I'll have the strength to follow.
While I've been watching the world we think we know, fall apart.
I've been trying my best to stop asking myself what all of this is for.
'Cause I ain't in the business of saving lives anymore.
I don't think I'm ready to see,
To see the distance between actual, and eventually.
'Cause I've never really been who I was supposed to be,
'Cause all I really wanted to hear is that you feel the same,
I wanna learn to breathe again every time I hear your name.
'Cause if you ever go...
I don't think I'll have the strength to follow.
While I've been watching the world we think we know, fall apart.
I've been trying my best to stop asking myself what all of this is for.
'Cause I ain't in the business of saving lives anymore.
Would this have ever made any sense,
Tell me is it still a mistake to speak of you in the present tense?
And though your kiss still feels more like love, than it does regret.
I don't wanna hear my name,
When you're alone, alone, alone again.
I just wanna feel the same, feel the same, feel the same.

this is without a doubt one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard.
why does he keep on talking about saving lives?
one of the best songs off of the album...by far.
'cuz i don't wanna hear my name when you're alone again'
wow....that's just deep

From my perspective:
He's writing from the "nice guy" position. Basically, he opens with "Does he know all the things I say to you? Or am I just wasting my breath on some unspoken truth?" ABout how you talk to the girl you like a lot while she's with her boyfriend, and you like her a lot.

Then he goes into: "I don't wanna hear my name, When you're alone, alone, alone again." aka once the guy breaks up with her, she wants to be there. But only when they break up. And then once she finds another guy -- she's gone again.
The lines: "I've been trying my best to stop asking myself what all of this is for. 'Cause I ain't in the business of saving lives anymore." are basically about how when you're a nice guy (as i am) you try and figure out why you're always like this even though you constantly get hurt by girls.
And "saving lives" is about helping every girl you like deal with getting their hearts broken by assholes.
That's my interpretation, especially if you listen to the whole cd. That's what the whole cd is about. Liking someone that's with someone else, or who only wants you as a friend.
i think that maybe in every relationship he's had, jamison ends up with people that have issues and stuff because he has so much love to give for whatever reason. like maybe he really wants someone he can 'save' or just make whatever's wrong better, cause that's a good feeling to help someone like that. i don't know if anyone can relate
but he's realizing they may be taking advantage of how much he truly cares. ' i don't wanna hear my name when you're alone'
sort of like that saying: don't make someone your priority when you're their only option
or however it goes..
