This Is Home Lyrics
I've got my memories
Always inside of me
But I can't go back
Back to how it was
I believe now
I've come too far
No, I can't go back
Back to how it was
Created for a place I've never known
This is home
Now I'm finally where I belong
Where I belong
Yea, this is home
I've been searching for a place of my own
Now I've found
That maybe this is home
Yea, this is home
Belief over misery
I've seen the enemy
And I won't go back
Back to how it was
And I got my heart set on what happens next
I got my eyes wide it's not over yet
We are miracles
And we're not alone
Yea, this is home
Now I'm finally where I belong
Where I belong
Yea, this is home
I've been searching for a place of my own
Now I've found
That maybe this is home
(This is home)
Yea, this is home
And now after all my searching
After all my questions
I'm gonna call it home
I got a brand new mindset
I can finally see the sunset
I'm gonna call it home
Home, this is home
Now I'm finally where I belong
Where I belong
Yea, this is home
I've been searching for a place of my own
Now I've found
That maybe this is home
This is home
Now I know
Yea, this is home
I've come too far
And I won't go back
Yea, this is home

Was it written FOR the movie? Because then it could fit into some Prince Caspian thing. But is "home" narnia or england? It could fit for Susan and Peter. They won't go back to Narnia, they can't go back to how it was.
But if you don't think about the movie, I think it's a change of heart song. Like, this person was kind of a cynic, and was just searching for happiness everywhere and struggling. But when they relax, they see the sunset and have a new way of looking at things, they're home. They don't need to frantically search for happiness anymore. They can just relax because they're found a place or situation that makes them feel safe.
It's amazing to me that for most everyone everything is black and white. Switchfoot is a Christian band so this must relate directly to God or Heaven.
To me the song is for everyone trying to find their place in life or the world. Where do they fit into the grand scheme of everything. It is more about how we each fit into certain parts, like a puzzle. The person has finally found their lot in life, what their life means and where they belong. It could be a relationship, a family, a job or a religious belief. But they are happy and content with their place. Home.
LNikky, I was thinking about both of those angles on this song, but the end of the first verse he says:
"Created for a place I've never known"
Obviously talking about heaven, but I can't seem to reconcile it with the rest of the song
Since Switchfoot is 100% a Christian band, I think they're talking about Heaven. How Heaven is home, and theyre are finally there. The enemy I think is Satan, and how they've been searching for something or someone to save them, they found God, and they are finally home. Heaven is our eternal Home.
Switchfoot has Christian leanings and themes, and the members of themselves are definitely Christian, but their music is not and should not be put into the category of "Christian music" as we traditionally know it.

Here's an excerpt from Foreman about this that was seen in an interview with the Boston Globe (http://web.archive.org/web/20050123135046/http://www.boston.com/ae/music/articles/2004/01/09/switchfoot_steps_toward_stardom?mode=PF):

"As for the Christian leanings of the band, he [Jon Foreman] says, 'For us, it's a faith, not a genre. We've always been very open and honest about where the songs are coming from. For us, these songs are for everyone. Calling us "Christian rock" tends to be a box that closes some people out and excludes them. And that's not what we're trying to do. Music has always opened my mind -- and that's what we want.'"
All that said, while I personally am not Christian, I certainly can see how your interpretation fits.
I haven't gotten a chance to listen to this song yet, but I can't wait for April 25th... Disney is supposed to release the single that day!
WOW... Switchfoot never ceases to amazes me! I LOVE IT!!!
The tempo change in the second verse is great.
This song is amazing! I absolutly LOVE the second verse... We aren't alone!
this song is so great. i loved that they were featured on The Chronicles of Narnia:Prince Caspian. This is a great "Coming Home" song, in my opinion. I've been wanting to go back to my old neighborhood for so long, this song just kinda gives off that vibe or feeling when you finally get back to familiarity.
i think this song maybe be about two people braking up and having the memories always being with u, but you wont go back to how it was, and u finally found urself without tht person
For me, it a song that reminds you of the one place you hold in her heart and call home, whether it be a mindset or actually place. When I heard for the first time, I though of my old house that I lived in for 16 years. Now when I hear it , I travel back through that house in mind, remembering the 'good old days'. My whole childhood and the begininng of my stupid teenage years were in that house. And since no one really knows what heaven is like, I like to picture me going back to live in my house again. Basicly, it's super uper good welcome home song.
