Cowboy Lyrics
I gave up my love
I gave up cigarettes
Now I've got my health
But I've got regrets
Walking all around
Breathing easily
There ain't one single thing
left in this town that's pleasing me!
Staring in the water
I wonder where you are now
Remember when I held you
Down by this canal
You looked into my eyes
I understood you well
You opened up my mind
And you filled it up with hell!
Your eyes
They're not like the ones I knew
Lord knows I tried
But they don't cry like others do
I thought I knew a thing or two
But that book that I flicked through
It seems like it was writ by you
Oh, shit!
I've been drinking on my own again
Drinking to my health
I've been thinking on my own again
Thinking for myself
I walked around to your house
And I rang your front door bell
Well I had my fill of breathing, honey
Take me back to hell!
Oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh
Whoa
I gave up cigarettes
Now I've got my health
But I've got regrets
Walking all around
Breathing easily
There ain't one single thing
left in this town that's pleasing me!
I wonder where you are now
Remember when I held you
Down by this canal
You looked into my eyes
I understood you well
You opened up my mind
And you filled it up with hell!
They're not like the ones I knew
Lord knows I tried
But they don't cry like others do
I thought I knew a thing or two
But that book that I flicked through
It seems like it was writ by you
Drinking to my health
I've been thinking on my own again
Thinking for myself
I walked around to your house
And I rang your front door bell
Well I had my fill of breathing, honey
Take me back to hell!
Oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh
Oh, oh, oh
Whoa

I love this song but I think it's 'Drinking to my health' and 'had my fill of breathing'
Haha a very fun song to listen to.
The song (I think ofcourse) talks about attempting to quit cigarettes.
It really does feel like nothing is really pleasing you around town when you give up cigarettes. Nothing is as fun as it used to be... and even though you have good health-- you really just want to say f*** it and smoke another one.
The second verse talks about looking into a pond that he might have looked into during a cigarette break before, and now the picture is not the same anymore... because he doesn't have one.
The "eye that doesn't cry" is a cigarette cherry that looks back at him in his reflection.
"But that book that I flicked through It seems like it was writ by you"
Talks about the book of matches that was needed to light cigarettes. And when the book is over/complete, that means that the pack of cigarettes are gone (20).
And lastly...
"I walked around to your house And I rang your front door bell Well I had my fill of breathing, honey Take me back to hell!"
He walks to a place where they sell cigarettes... he's tired of being able to breath well and be healthy, and wants to smoke again... effectively going back to hell (because cigarettes just make you feel like crap).
