Shine On Lyrics

Safety pins holding up the things that make you mine
About your hair, you needing care: You look beautiful all of the time

Shine, shine, shine on! Yeees
Won't you shine, shine on!

Your magazines
The people like the scenes but you still read [???]
I must admit, I don't believe in it but I see how you get sucked in

Shine, shine, shine on! Yeees
Won't you shine, shine on!
Cha la la la!

Shine, shine, shine on! Yeees
Won't you shine, shine on!
Because you're not done

But why did you bite the hand that feeds you?
But why did you bite the hand that feeds you?

Shine, shine, shine on! Yeeees
Won't you shine, shine on!
Cha la la la!

Shine, shine, shine on! Yeeees
Won't you shine, shine on!

Safety pins holding up the things that make you mine
About your hair, you needing care: You look beautiful all of the time

I wondered if "bite the hand that feeds you" was a reference to him, i.e. he tells her she's beautiful but she can't believe him- because of her belief in magazines etc as everyone else said- and has a go at him. "Safety pins holding up the things that make you mine" seems to imply their relationship has an unstable base, her obsession that she's not good enough is damaging it and she should just "shine on" and let it go

I believe this son is about a girl that has been let down in so many things in life but is always getting over things and growing above it. I think when son says "Safety pins holding up the things that make you mine" are not actually pins neither pictures but memories in his mind. He admires her for being brave. When song says "Your magazines, at people at the seams but you still read I must admit, I don't believe in it But I see how you get sucked in" he is talking about those relationships with previous partner and been betray but she is still believing in love and good things." He is saying it that way because he is leery about love an relationships but still admiring her. I will assume that the part of the song that says "Why do you bite the hand that feeds you?" Is him wondering why other cause such damage to her. Like he feels she deserve great things in life.

I think it's about a girl that is on the fashion scene, not necessarily a model, but a girl that likes fashion and reads magazines and is kind of vain and think she's not beautiful because she's sucked by the frivolous world of celebrities.

So he as a man can't understand it and he's telling her that she shines as she is.

I just don't understand the part of "Why did you bite the hand that feeds you", maybe because she's sabotaging herself by entering on that dream world where she doesn't fits because she's a common person.

I don't know... maybe it's just a projection xD

to me this song is as most people say about a girl who is in with fashon magazines etc and her boyfreind loves her the way she is....as to the "why do you bite the hand that feeds you" is a anorexic quote.its on lots of pro ana websites and things but the other way round....as in bite the hand that feeds you.so i think the song is asking her why she is doing this to herself as he loves her the way she is :)

personal opionion :)

This song is beautiful 'Safety pins holding up the things that make you mine' i think it means that those things that make him love her are strong and they wont go away. 'But why did you bite the hand that feeds you?' i agree, its a reference to him, i believe that sometimes she gives him a hard time just because, it seems like he takes a lot of care of her and that he really wants her but occasionly she's not that grateful.

'Shine, shine, shine on' Love this line. To me, he thinks she's amazing and that there's so much life and glow in her but she doesnt realize it. It's like saying 'go, enjoy life, laugh, you are wonderful'

This song is really sweet, about love and how you shouldn't be cloistered by what you're told to be.
