One More Day Lyrics

Well I saw you fall back once. love
But I can't stay, stay like this weather swirls,
Cause you've become sick like this winter girl.

Two more days, just two more.

Now I see
Don't you say that I've gone crazy
Because I haven't gone crazy yet
I just lost my mind, but I still got you.

Stay up late so you're sure.
Sure that I wont stray too far,
But surely that got too hard.
Love is not for me,
I promise.
One more day, just one more.

Don't you say that I've gone crazy
Because I haven't gone crazy yet
I just lost my mind, but I still got you.

I'd stay if I ever could, stay if I ever could
And pick up your pieces babe,
Cause there's never a perfect day

I just lost my mind, but I still got you

I think all of Leighton's songs tell a story. I saw an interview of him saying all his lyrics were really personal. I don't think he ever writes about things that don't have to do with him so I have just decided that I think this one is once again apart of the drug addiction.

I think he's counting down until he is done with drugs, and I think the "crazy" refers to drug withdrawal.

He could be telling the girl he is with all about this (she is still on drugs and no where near quiting) and he can't stay with her because things will be different and she's still a mess "I'd stay if I ever could, stay if I ever could and pick up your pieces babe"

I think again it's a failed relationship, and that they've broken up, but she hasn't moved out yet. He hasn't gone completely crazy because she's still around, but he's counting down the days until she leaves for good. The verses of the song may be him trying to convince himself that he doesn't need her, but it's obvious he does.

I feel like this song is about a relationship that has been dragging on for a while. Where one acts somewhat "crazy" about the other. He's saying "one more day" as in "give me a chance, please just one more day, i'll change." but he never does.

"I'd stay if I ever could, stay if I ever could And pick up your pieces babe, Cause there's never a perfect day"

He "picks up her pieces" as in trying to make her happy and fix the relationship. But "there's never a perfect day" something always goes wrong.

"I just lost my mind, but I still got you" He may be "crazy" but as long as he has her it's still okay.

i love this song. i'm not completely sure on the meaning but i feel like its about a guy that loved this girl, but couldn't stay with her. she left him once before, and she probably came back. it seems like he's sick of her only clinging to him when he leaves. he feels like he can't stay anymore, even though he'll always have her.

HOW does this song not have a trillion comments? this is one of Lydia's BEST songs. and my favourite<3

I especially like how the word "yet" is repeated in the line "because i haven't gone crazy yet"

In this song she's counting days. "Just two more days" , "Just one more day" . Maybe she has a disease, that makes her go crazy , and she has someone that loves her. Don't know, my brain made this connection.

This song is insanely amazing. So is every Lydia song. Every word is so enchanting. Certain sections or phrases of each song jump out at me, for this song its:

"And pick up your pieces babe, Cause there's never a perfect day."

I think this song could mean a million different things for a million different people. No matter what it's amazing.

What drives me crazy though is what Leighton is referring to as he counts down from two more days to one more day. I really wish there were more clues to what he was talking about.

My Opinion

I'm not entirely sure what this song could mean, but it's definitely one of my favorite songs by Lydia. All I really know is that the term "wintergirl" is someone who has an eating disorder. They are "frozen between worlds," because they can't get out of the habit of not eating/throwing up what they eat, etc. They're not dead, but they're not fully alive either, they're just going through life like a robot doing what they know best.

In fact, there's a book called Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson, and while reading it I listened to Illuminate on repeat the entire book. It's unbelievable how much the album seems to relate to the book. I recommend the book to anyone. It's not a hard book to read, and it has a very good story. The album relates to it so much that I almost believe some of the lyrics were based from the book. If you like this album, read Wintergirls and you'll see how similar the two are.

I didn't even read any other interpretations before posting mine. Ours are pretty similar. haha :)

Oh, and I definitely agree, when I first heard this song, I immediately thought of "Wintergirls". I hadn't heard the rest of the album yet, and I still haven't (oops), but based off of this one song, it does seem like "Illuminate" would be the soundtrack to "Wintergirls".

Sorry for the double reply! xD
