Hospital Bed Crawl

I think it's about how he's stalking a girl he broke up with because he wasn't good for her, but now he senses someone else coming into her life who is worse for her. He's trying to say I know I lost you once, but there's more trouble out there so even if you don't want me, watch out. That's my idea, but hey, I think alot of songs are about stalkers.

I do believe that the sort of affection described in this song is more pure than what has been suggested.

What I think he describes in having been in love with someone and now regretting and hating that the relationship has ending. As far as hiding in the shadows, he is trying to escape the memory of her because she was an angel and he wishes that he had not given her away. The lurker who lusts after blood and love is just someone that he seems to want to protect her from and through this he is stating (in a sort of extended metaphor fashion) that he is better for her than many others could be and that his sort of love is more pure. The bridge seems to state this feeling of how she always meant so much and that she never quite loved him the same way. And how he is now struggling with himself in wanting her but also in wanting to get over her.
And so he has this sort of disease and infection of her.

And, really: It's the Hush Sound. Nobody's going to get raped in a Hush Sound song.

A few changes:

"And the terminally ill" should be "do the terminal yell"

"There's a looker making rounds" should be "theres a lurker making rounds"

"Darling, don't you keep a light?" should be "darling i wont be polite"

"Not like all the other boys" should be "i'm just like all the other boys"

"I'm soaking in your sentiment" should be "im soaking in your cinnamon"

JubeJube, I think you're right. And it may seem like little changes, but the meaning is completely different. Like "do the hospital yell" it sounds reaaally out of place :P.

is it me, or do a lot of the songs from this new album mention giving away someone or something? it seems like a constant theme or something. like That's Okay for example. and i think Molasses too.

I think that Bob is playing the part of a doctor or something, and he is talking to a patient with a devastating diesease, like cancer... And I think that what he is trying to say is that the 'lurker making rounds' is the dieease, and so Bob is telling the patient that even though his job is to cure that person, he doesn't want them to leave the hospital because he'd miss them...like how Suze in the mediator series doesn't want Jesse to pass on.

To me it sounds like Bob is stalking some girl. 'in the shadows where I hide from you', 'the violently alone I feel', and 'I won't take a no' give me that idea. Like maybe he's mentally unstable and after this girl. Or maybe I've been watching too many teenage soap operas...
