I don't think this song is about a past love. I think it's about two people who have had difficult relationships in the past. And now found someone who actually gets them or understands them. He's telling her they don't have to "look back now". Also I think it's someone telling their new girlfriend, that this time things will be better, and not to let past relationships come between them.

Like being afraid to fall in love with him. Ect.

Ahh I love this song. This song to me is about starting over with a past love. Forgetting the past, not looking back, just starting over and hoping you'll make it.

i totally agree with uhhh1...i don't think its about starting over with a past love, but maybe something more like two friends that knew each other when they were going out with other people, but both of their relationships ended badly, and the guy is singing to the girl saying like he knows it was hard but they can just forget about the past...they are together now and thats all that matters.....this song totally makes sense...i mean when you've fallen in love once you are so afraid to fall in love again, to get hurt.....but when you find that one person who just gets, you, then, you just have to trust yourself, and the other person......love is giving the other person the ability to break your heart but trusting them not to.....its hard to let yourself fall in love again.....but i think thats what this song is about

I agree with uhhh1 and punkfairyinlove on this one. I think it's about two friends that have known each other for quite some time and have both been in harmful and/or destructive relationships. They consoled and helped each other during those times, but because they were hurt, it was hard to believe in love.

But, being friends and having that "special connection", they knew they could just let go of their collective pasts and be with each other like they always had been and what was meant to be. Helping from the sidelines was not good enough. Nobody could ever prevent them from becoming one, and no matter what people say, they won't look back on their pasts or fall on the words of others. Simply to be with each other is good enough.

On a sidenote: I LOVE YOU MAGGIE! You've been my best friend for 11 years and you know I'd never hurt you. Thanks for giving me this chance to be with you!
