Moving Mountains

Hah! Have y'all heard the whole album yet? There's a song on there called "Appetite." Just from this song and that one, you can obviously tell that Usher has a problem. "Moving mountains" to me is his struggle to stay faithful. He makes progress by climbing the mountain, but then he'll go and fuck everything up some way or another. He knows he's no good for her so he tells her to leave. But she loves him so she's willing to make it work. But it'll never work because she'll keep being bitter and untrustworthy. And like the playa he is, he'll fuck up all over again. Very personal lyrics. He bled his whole heart into this album.

He said he lost his way and she said she would stay, means he told her what was wrong between them in hopes to better the relationship. Yet it resulted to her insecurity, further damaging them. Standing in gas and shes the flame means she gets mad often, but her not leaving him made him like her more. Finding contentment in this situation is like ...

i love this song, im still not sure what its about, but i think its about how its impossible for her to love im again, but she won't leave him.

This song means so much to me right now, I heard this song at the time when I knew something was wrong between me and my boyfriend. I think it's about him trying to make it work, or trying to get over it. "Her Heart is a obliterated, i'm trying to travel through but its like moving mountains" - maybe meaning hes trying to sort everything out. "But I keep climbing and hoping things would change And the sky turns grey, and the water from the rain washes progress away" - meaning everytime he starts to sort it out, it doesn't work and it all comes pooring down causing more problems". This song I think protrays mistrust.

This sounds like a part 3 to the whole confessions thing.....she's decided to take him back and try to work it out, "i told you to leave, but you lied to me When you said that, baby no worries I promise to get us back" kinda enquiring about why she would say that and make it this difficult. comparing the struggle to moving mountains."But I keep climbing and hoping things would change And the sky turns grey, and the water from the rain washes progress away", saying everytime he makes a little progress it all comes falling down, the remainder of the song basically him contemplating whether they should just walk away from it all.....to make a long story short, which i've already made long...the song just reflects the stresses of rebuilding a relationship...

to me, its about trying to make the relationship work because he's never had a love like her before, and it hurts him so bad to see it dying like it that he's trying to make it work even though it seems impossible. they still love each other, and they miss each other.. but theyre just so stuck in the problem & so pissed about it that they cant do anything about it.its like moving mountains.

its just one of those situations you have to be in to truly understand, or the emotion of the song would be underestimated.

I agree with coolass chad - it's like confessions part 3. He's obviously messed up and is trying to get them back to normal but she won't let it happen cos she's still hurt.

This song explains eveyrthing about the circumstances I'm facing with this guy . .It's funny how songs just happen to jump right out at you and sing out your whole life story at present in 3-5minutes lol . .I swear it's like God/or something fate whatever you call it has created for each & eveyrone of us has a soundtrack to our own lives . .because I seem to find all the songs (not only ones heard on mainstream but just randomly while watching a movie, or walking through the shopping centres watever) just at the right time & I'm not even searching for them . .lol . .how ironic . .but anyways . .I love Usher's Here I stand album . .tracks I've listened to don't fail to impress . .:)

The whole "its like moving mountains" line is syonymous of how hard its proving to fix a realationship that was once so amazing for the male persona. The impact that this girl has had on his life seems so central to his happiness, the "great depression" and "hurricane" that "rocked / stopped us" depict how large the turnaround was; by comparing his emotions to such man made and natural disasters.If you've seen the video clip that goes with this song, you see Usher "keep climbing (and hoping things would change)" - this meaning that he thinks that if he can get to the top of the mountain, he will be able to be on top and in control again; with the top representing the relationship before the problems set in. She doesn't see how hard he's trying to make things right, the lengths he is going to to fix things (verse 2), but then again he doesn't seem to either. The trust is broken. That's just how i interpreted it based on the way i feel about my ex. I cant adapt to anything else other than being with him. Trying to attempt to tell him really is like moving mountains cos i fucked up so much before. i don't know, thats about all ive got. but this song is the best on his new album. Like zombiesforbreakfast said, its just one of those situations you have to be in to truly understand, or the emotion of the song would be underestimated.
