A Fine Evening For A Rogue Lyrics
It started quite young
Yeah, I learned how to, to,
To stay quiet, just stay quiet, always stay
Cursed with disease
I have to be perfect
And you're no better than me, no.
Don't you ever get lonely
Yeah, don't you ever get lonely?
'Cause it's no better for me
I still cannot believe
Don't you ever get lonely?
Yeah, well, don't you ever get lonely?
'Cause I never saw you leave this lately
Well I wasn't sure that I would be staying
So let's stay quiet, yeah, let's stay quiet
Then we can lay
Alive in this bed
Alive for the evening
And you're no better
It's never so I can't be safe
Don't you ever get lonely
Yeah, don't you ever get lonely?
'Cause it's no better for me
I still cannot believe
Don't you ever get lonely?
Yeah, well, don't you ever get lonely?
'Cause I never saw you leave this lately
Yeah, I learned how to, to,
To stay quiet, just stay quiet, always stay
Cursed with disease
I have to be perfect
And you're no better than me, no.
Yeah, don't you ever get lonely?
'Cause it's no better for me
I still cannot believe
Yeah, well, don't you ever get lonely?
'Cause I never saw you leave this lately
So let's stay quiet, yeah, let's stay quiet
Then we can lay
Alive in this bed
Alive for the evening
And you're no better
It's never so I can't be safe
Yeah, don't you ever get lonely?
'Cause it's no better for me
I still cannot believe
Yeah, well, don't you ever get lonely?
'Cause I never saw you leave this lately

"It started quite young Yeah, I learned how to, to, To stay quiet, just stay quiet, always stay"
I think Leighton had a tough childhood. I think this line and the one from The One You Once Loved Is Leaving, "Its not your fault when no one taught you how" have to do with him growing up with parents who were not kind to him and also parents who didn't set a good example.
Him saying he learned how to stay quiet could be about many different things, but I don't think he ever had a say in anything, so he stayed quiet.
Just typing what I saw in my CD booklet, straight from the source.
whether straight from the booklet or not "don't you ever get lonely?" is DEFINITELY a question. hahaha
but actually if you read into it he's asking "don't you ever get lonely? cause I do"
wow, i always thought it said "it's no better for me, i still cannot breathe"
i love this song regardless. i think it's pretty easy to read, its a guy talking to a girl, perhaps tehy just broke up? he's talking about how he's a perfectionist and he's afraid to settle for someone, but he still gets lonely. sounds like he's saying he's not perfect, but neither is she, so maybe they should settle and be together? i'm not sure, maybe it just makes sense to me.
I think it's kind of about to partners who have a relationship based only on the physical. He however is starting to have some feelings but he still sees her leave their "sessions" the same as before. That's my take on it...

ohhh, i can't wait for the new album!

Correction: "Don't you ever get lonely?" is a statement, not a question so the question mark shouldn't be there
It's called a rhetorical question you idiot. Even if it wasn't a question, like it had a period at the end it would be an order, not a statement.

I think that liesarelies is right. He is talking about being a perfectionist and how he is lonely because he pushes everyone away because of it and the girl does too.
I love that he describes the need to be perfect as a disease. Those lines give me chills.
