I've had less than my fair share of lucky breaks
And enough of this fooling around
I've got one last chance to get rid of my past
And bury it deep in the ground
And no matter what you try man
You're never gonna tear me down

When the only blame you cast is your own
And your only guarantee is your fear of the unknown
If you don't cut your losses before you get lost
They're never going to leave you alone

My best bits of advice I'll repeat only twice
After that you can fend for yourself
If you think that your shoes couldn't find better use
About just about anyone else

You need to face up and fold
Or deal with the hand you're dealt

Make up your mind
Are you in are you out
I've no patience for your impetuous doubt

When the only blame you cast is your own
And your only guarantee is your fear of the unknown
If you don't cut your losses before you get lost
They're never going to leave you alone
No

I've had less than my fair share of lucky breaks
And enough of this fooling around
I've got one last chance to get rid of my past
And bury it deep in the ground

Make up your mind
Are you in are you out
You'd be better served as a face in the crowd

You never want the truth to be told
And all your major concerns are out of your control
If you don't pick your feet up to come back around
You get stuck in my way you get rolled.

When the only blame you cast is your own
And your only guarantee is your fear of the unknown
If you don't cut your losses before you get lost
They're never going to leave you alone
Leave you alone

First, this is definitely not about a relationship.

Second, the [???] word is 'rolled'.

Now for the song meaning, to me this is about an intelligent and independent person who is saying "I have dreams; I'm going to achieve them; and I am not going to let you hold me back." The question could be asked, who is he talking to? I think the answer is anyone and everyone. It could be family, a friend or even a spouse. But, what is more important I think, is the type of person who is talking to. I believe he is speaking about the average person who does not do much of anything with their life. He isn't about to let his dreams get sunk by the weight of your baggage.

second song i heard by WMMF, it's really good

i assume it's about moving on and learning to live with regrets, because if you don't "you get lost"

to me, this reminds me of regretful sentiments post-breakup. you need to get rid of your past to forget the relationship. you need to get rid of the memories or else "they're never going to leave you alone." probably a messy breakup in my opinion, since he mentions not wanting the truth to be told, and also talks about "are you in or are you out" which could allude to an on-off sort of relationship.

I love this song and this band. I think it's saying that you have to face up to what you do and all you can do to make up for it is to be a better person in the future and then and only then can you "bury [your past] deep in the ground".

I've always thought it was a fight song about overcoming all adversity to rule/dominate, or at least to give your absolute best, mainly because the name of the song is "Sultan."

    My Opinion

Any time I'm in a "crap or get off the pot" mood, I crank this track. It's my ultimate motivating tool.

Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
