The Mirror's Truth Lyrics
This spectacle, our collapse
It's not a false alarm
The ashes settle in.
I guess, we are the insane
As we ignore the mirror's truth
Should I join the feast?
Should I acknowledge the leash?
The future in captivity
I'm not who I'm supposed to be.
Without even trying (killing the last scene)
Let this light explode.
The bleeding, we deceive them
Fuel the life that fades
At the height of reason
We should live by your laws
Call the swarm
Feed them another false hope.
Without even trying (killing the last scene)
Let this night explode
Without even trying
Find the exit sign and disappear
It's not a false alarm
The ashes settle in.
As we ignore the mirror's truth
Should I acknowledge the leash?
The future in captivity
I'm not who I'm supposed to be.
Let this light explode.
Fuel the life that fades
At the height of reason
We should live by your laws
Call the swarm
Feed them another false hope.
Let this night explode
Find the exit sign and disappear

Fukin awsome song the best thing I eva heard Meaning: We are the insane as we ignore the mirror's truth
This song is about society and it's corruption... You probably need to see the video to catch on to the larger hints but it's quite clear...
In the video is starts with the one thing sitting back and stuffing his face. He's in a place of luxury... Then it cuts to a bunch of people working while being overwatched...
The song and video are about how we have become blind to what's happening around us.... We've grown ignorant to the fact that we work our asses off under the watchful eyes of the higher up.
Meanwhile, the rich sit back and get richer.
WE'VE IGNORED THE MIRROR'S TRUTH!
We can't stand to look straight at what we've become. "We aren't even trying"
We need to find a way to escape this and fight back against our oppressors... "Find the exit sign and disappear"...
Also in the video the workers start to revolt, and fight against those who watch them, and eventually kill what's at the top of the ladder, the root of the problem, or what looks like they're about to do so,
That, my friends, is what the song is about.
Anders commented on the meaning behind "The Mirror's Truth" for an article in Kerrang magazine:
"It's partly based on my opinions regarding the environmental situation we're facing, but that kind of morphed into an interpretation of how people seem to be scared of confrontation these days. People would rather play it safe and not speak their mind about certain things because they're afraid of someone challenging them, so this song is about that and how strange I find it."
Yeah, this song is awesome.
I think its about how we are destroying out world and don't like the laws we have. But we know we need laws and we need to change, but we ignore the truth and because of this we are gong to end up destroying ourselves.
i think the lyrics there are wrong
Should I join the feast Should I ackownelge the leash The future in captivity I'm not who i'm supposed to be
and the chours should be
without even trying we'll let this light explode
Yeah, maybe we should wait til the actual EP is released before we take a stab at these lyrics, huh?
From what I can tell, and from the messages in the video itself, it seems like this is a song themed towards how society is aware of exploitation in places like China and North Korea, yet we ignore the same things when they are happening under our noses at home.
After hearing "Abnegation" i thought their new album would be complete shite. Apparently, it is not \m/
i love this song, especially the solo after the first verse-it really harks back to the clayman/colony glory days. i'd say this will be a great song live too so can't wait till the album's out and In Flames come back to Ireland! \m/
I think these are the correct lyrics. Not 100% on the second verse but I think the chorus and the rest are mostly correct. Any corrections are very welcome :)

I guess we are the insane, As we ignore the mirror's truth. Should I join the feast? Should I acknowledge the leash? A future in captivity, I'm not who I'm supposed to be.
We're not even trying, Let this light explode.
The bleeding, we deceive them, Fuel the lies, their fires. Is there a higher reason, We should live by their laws? Call the swarm, Feed them another false hope.
We're not even trying, To ignite life's dream, Let this light explode. We're not even trying, Find the exit sign and disappear.
We're not even trying, To ignite life's dream, Let this light explode. We're not even trying, Find the exit sign and disappear.
As for the meaning of this song, I think it's about facing up to the truth and acknowledging that there is more to life than what we currently live for and that we're not really putting any effort into making the most of it. Great song and so is the rest of the single!
lol theres 8 notes in a scale!!! ahh the idjits in this world...
