Little girl terrified
She'd leave her room if only bruises would heal
A home is no place to hide
Her heart is breaking from the pain that she feels

Every day's the same
She fights to find her way
She hurts, she breaks, she hides
And tries to pray

She wonders why
Does anyone ever hear her when she cries

Today she's turning sixteen
Everyone singing, but she can't seem to smile
They never get past arms length
How could they act like everything is alright?

Pulling down her long sleeves
To cover all the memories that scars leave
She says, "maybe making me bleed
Will be the answer that could wash the slate clean"

Every day's the same
She fights to find her way
She hurts, she breaks, she hides
And tries to pray

She wonders why
Does anyone ever hear her when she cries

This is the dark before the dawn
The storm before the peace
Don't be afraid 'cause seasons change
And God is watching over you
He hears you

Every day's the same
She fights to find her way
She hurts, she breaks, she hides
And tries to pray

She'll be just fine
'Cause now he hears her when she cries

Every day's the same
She fights to find her way
She hurts, she breaks, she hides
And tries to pray

She'll be just fine
'Cause now I know he hears her when she cries
She'll be just fine
'Cause now I know he hears her when she cries

I totally get this song. It's really sad, but for someone who has struggled with these emotions, it's really uplifting to know that God will always be there for you. (I'm anorexic- that's another way of dealing with pain.)

Little girl terrified She'd leave her room if only bruises would heal A home is no place to hide Her heart is breaking from the pain that she feels

So probably someone in her family is hurting her emotionally, so she hides at home.

Every day's the same She fights to find her way She hurts, she breaks She hides and tries to pray She wonders why Does anyone ever hear her when she cries?

She has depression- she feels hopeless every day, and every day is a struggle to make it through. She hides and tries to ask god what to do because she feels so helpless. She hides all her emotions- she doesn't want anyone to see her break down, but then she also wants someone to comfort her and tell her everything will be okay in the end

Today she's turning sixteen Everyone singing, but she can't seem to smile They never get past arms length How could they act like everything is alright? Pulling down her long sleeves To cover all the memories that scars leave She says, "Maybe making me bleed Will be the answer that could wash the slate clean."

So people close to her- friends and family- she sees as faking that everything is okay. She's still pretending that she's fine, but she still really wants someone to see past her disguises and love her. Then, it talks about her cutting. She's obviously still hiding, and she doesn't feel worthy of anything, so she tries to be better by cutting. It's really sad.

This is the dark before the dawn The storm before the peace Don't be afraid cause seasons change And God is watching over you He hears you

This is talking about how there actually is hope- that this is a short time of terror, and that God will bring about change for the better. She doesn't need to fear because God is always there for her.

Every day's the same She fights to find her way She hurts, she breaks She hides and tries to pray She'll be just fine Cause I know He hears her When she cries

So this starts with the old chorus, but then shows that there's hope in God- she's still breaking, but God is there, even when it feels like no one else is. She'll be be just fine because God cares about her.

She'll be just fine Cause I know He hears her When she cries

This is the same thing as the previous stanza, still saying that no matter what God will always be there for her and she doesn't have to cut anymore.

I hope whoever reads this is really touched by these lyrics and their meanings. I sure was.

    God bless you

I think this song is about a girl with physically abusive parents who cuts herself because she is abused. She then turns to religion for help.

    My Interpretation

Most of Britt Nicole's songs are about bullying, like "Gold", so I think this is a song about girl who gets bullied and cuts.

i think it could also be metaphor for someone with pain inside and her home or people around her dont' help matters. so she dosen't open up and thinks nobody hears, but God does.

she's a girl crying out for help, for someoen to listen to her but everyone at home is turning a blind eye;; it's actually really depressing. but little does this girl know that gos sees and hears her and it grieves him that she can't make it, he doesn't wanna lose her.. this is more about her pain inside that soon becomes scars on the outside, once again crying out;; everyone sees but doesn't knwo what to do.. i think the song is trying to say that god hears you, and sees you, when u r at ur lowest n in pain, that god is watching over you, no matter how you feel he is always there with everyonthing in his hands.

When I first heard this song I was inclined to believe that it was about a young girl and abuse however now after reading these comments, reading the lyrics and listening to the song once again I agree it 's definitely about a young girl who cuts!

That stanza makes me think that it IS about cutting yourself and feeling like all your feelings are trapped inside with nowhere to go. It's definitely a powerful song about trying to find a way out of a dark tunnel.

clearly this song is about god. britt nicole is a christian artist. i really love this song, its about how she tries everything to feel, and its not until she lets god into her life that things get better.

I think that it's about either, someone abuses her or she's depressed and cuts herself

i love this song! to me, it's about a girl who grows up with a bad childhood and eventually becomes depressed and starts cutting. she won't let anyone get too close to her, because she's afraid they'll hurt her. she finds God and she let's Him into her heart and He forgives her and rids her of all her sins and just surrounds her with His love. it's an amazing song! :D
