Svó Hljótt Lyrics

Ég halla þig á, í ró
Það stóð allt í stað, og þú
Þú söngst til mín svo hljótt
Þú söngst til mín svo hljótt
Í tunglsljósinu ég sé þig á grúfu
Í tunglsljósinu þú breytist í blátt húm
Ég þakka þér þá von sem þú gafst mér
Ég þakka þér þá von...

here is a roguh translation:

Svo Hljótt (So Quietly)

I lean against you, in calm Everything stood still, and you

You sang to me so quietly You sang to me so quietly

In the moonlight I see you, hunched over In the moonlight you turn into blue dusk

I thank you for the hope you have gave me I thank you for the hope...

(hopelandic)

btw, credit for the transcript and translation goes to the folks from the SR official MB. you know who you are. :)

The drums near the end are incredible. I always do some air-drumming along with it. :D

Well... I know it's one of my favourits of Takk, but I'm dying for years now knowing wat the hell Jonsi is singing about. So, translation annyone?

Conky, only most of the second half of this song is on hopelandic. The first half is in Icelandic and thus can be translated, thanks to arnfdeno for translating it.

Anyway, this is I think the best on Takk.... Glosoli and Hoppipolla get so much recognition but, as much as I love those songs, I think Svo Hljott is just as good if not better. The emotion is so rich in it and the build up and climax are just as beautiful as that in Glosoli. Perfect songwriting, lyrically too. Whether you know the translation or not, somehow the words he is saying, like mindcircus said, you just know it's soothing and beautiful.

Judging from the lyrics as translated by arnfdeno I'd say Jonsi wrote this song about his lover, Alex Sommers. Such a beautiful song, even more beautiful now that I know what it means.

the song is written in hopelandic a language jonsi made up. you cant translate it, it has no meaning jonsi uses hopelandic before he has written lyrics for the songs It is an extremely beautiful song, i prefer it without actual lyrics, that way people can make what they want of it
