Well, I won't be the one
To disappoint you anymore
And I know I've said all this
So that you heard it all before

The trick is getting you to think
That all this was your idea
And that this is everything
You ever wanted, out of here

Love's not a competition
But I'm winning
I'm not sure
What's truly altruistic anymore
'Cause every good thing that I do is listed
And you're keeping score

Love's not a competition
But I'm winning
Love's not a competition
But I'm winning

Or at least I thought I was
But there's no way of knowing
At least I thought I was
But there's no way of knowing

You know what it's like
When you're new to the game
But I'm not

Well, I won't be the one
To disappoint you
Well, I won't be the one
To disappoint you anymore

Well, I won't be the one
To disappoint you anymore
(Love's not a competition but I'm winning)
Well, I won't be the one
To disappoint you anymore
(Love's not a competition but I'm winning)

I won't be the one
To disappoint you anymore

oh, and I kinda think the Paramore version's better.

Idk, maybe it's just preference. And I'm not too fond of British accents in singing...

Really nice and catchy acoustic cover of the song. I love it a lot. I find it much better than the original version (no offense to anyone that likes it), because I'm not used to people with accents singing.

Josh's small part singing in this makes my heart skip a beat everytime... His voice is beautiful. I don't know why he doesn't have enough backup parts...I wanna hear more of his voice! hahah.

^Yeah, that's what I meant with the accent thing. Completely agree with you, xxbreakmedown ... especially with the Josh thing. He really does have an awesome voice. It's half the reason My Heart and Franklin are so good.

    Yeah.

    Peace.

^Yeah, sorry about that. I meant English, it's just sometimes I forget about being politically and geographically correct. LOL

Sorry if it offended you or something... didn't mean to.

Yeah, I'm posting way too many times on this song... 3 of the 6 comments are me...

    Peace.

Lovely song. I actually thought it was an acoustic version of their own song, and then realised it was a cover when i brought the Radio 1 Live Lounge CD.

Ah well, I then listened to both versions and definitely this one is more attractive to listen to. Its powerful but soft at the same time, obviously if it means a lot more to you at the time.

Either way, Hayley Williams is so fit!! Haha just thought I would add that in!

It's a sort of heartbrek-ish song. But at the same time, it's not... Dunno how to explain it. 'Haunting' describes it perfectly....

Fortnight
Taylor Swift
The song 'Fortnight' by Taylor Swift and Post Malone tells a story about strong feelings, complicated relationships, and secret wishes. It talks about love, betrayal, and wanting someone who doesn't feel the same. The word 'fortnight' shows short-lived happiness and guilty pleasures, leading to sadness. It shows how messy relationships can be and the results of hiding emotions. “I was supposed to be sent away / But they forgot to come and get me,” she kickstarts the song in the first verse with lines suggesting an admission to a hospital for people with mental illnesses. She goes in the verse admitting her lover is the reason why she is like this. In the chorus, she sings about their time in love and reflects on how he has now settled with someone else. “I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary / And I love you, it’s ruining my life,” on the second verse she details her struggles to forget about him and the negative effects of her failure. “Thought of callin’ ya, but you won’t pick up / ‘Nother fortnight lost in America,” Post Malone sings in the outro.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
