I'm Good I'm Gone Lyrics
Working in the corner
Peeking over shoulders
Waiting for my time to come
Working in the corner
One day to the other
Butter for my piece of bun
Stepping, I'm stompin'
I'm all gone
Give me a tone
And i'm all gone
Yeah, i'm walking by the line
Not here, but in my mind
I'm working, I sweat, but it's all good
I'm breaking my back but it's all good
'Cause i know i'll get it back
Yeah, i know your hands will clap
And I'm working,
Yeah, i'm working
To make butter for my piece of bun
And if you say I'm not OK
We must go
If you say there ain't no way that i could know
If you say i aim too high from down below
Well, say it now 'cause when i'm gone
You'll be callin' but i won't be at the phone
And i'm hanging around 'till it's all done
You can't keep me back once i had some
No wasting time to get it right
And you will see what i'm about
'Cause i'm working, I sweat, but it's all good
I'm breaking my back but it's all good
'Cause i know i'll get it back
Yeah, i know your hands will clap
And if you say I'm not OK
We must go
If you say there ain't no way that i could know
If you say i aim too high from down below
Well, say it now 'cause when i'm gone
You'll be callin' but i won't be at the phone
Working in the corner
Peeking over shoulders
Waiting for my time to come

its about the struggle of working hard even if it is a shitty situation... people are hating on what you are doing but they aren't doing any better for themselves, keeping in mind that you will get somewhere in the future,
DO WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO SO YOU CAN DO WHAT YOU WANT TO DO
About being independent? I get the idea she's a dancer, but I suppose that could be metaphorical. Either way, it seems to be pushing aside everything enybody else says about her doing whatever it is, believing she'll prove her weight one day, and biding her time until then. Or the phone thing could be to do with a relationship (she won't pick up the phone no matter how many times he/she calls)
i love this!
i think she had a fling but she didnt want it anymore, she wanted more and something better . "You can't keep me back once i had some No wasting time to get it right"
she seems arrogant or stuck up to him "If you say i aim too high from down below".
I saw the video and from it, I think the boxing thing was metaphorical (you know, fighting to the top). From the dancers she used, especially all in business attire, I think that this was not a personal message about her life or trying for just her to get ahead. It was more about everyone aiming high in their jobs and careers. If you want to get more specific, the women in the video were all following and fighting the men, so it could be a comment about sexism in the workplace. At the end, it seemed that everyone spinning on the floor was carving out their own place.
I want to add that the video is being offered free on itunes until 10/20/08.
I have a feeling that the video has nothing to do with the song. The video is absurd, I love it BTW. I also think its more about a relationship that she has or had, something more personal. She keeps talking about not picking up the phone which as I understand, its a stereotype of a breakup. I do love though your approach of work and career towards this song.

i'm pretty sure these are the right lyrics:
Working in the corner Peaking over shoulders Waiting for my time to come
Working in the corner One day to the other Butter for my piece of bun
Stepping a stone and I'm all gone Give me the tone and I'm all gone Yeah, I'm walking by the line Not here, but in my mind
I'm working a sweat, but it's all good Breaking my back but it's all good 'Cause I know i'll get it back Yeah, I know your hands will clap
I'm working, I'm working To make butter for my piece of bun
And if you say I'm not okay with miles to go If you say there ain't no way that I could know If you say I aim too high from down below Well say it now 'cause when I'm gone You'll be calling but I won't be at the phone
And I'm hanging around 'til it's all done You can't keep me back once I had some Wasting time to get it right And you will see what I'm about
'Cause I'm working a sweat, but it's all good I'm breaking my back but it's all good 'Cause I know I'll get it back Yeah, I know your hands will clap

For me, the interpretation is simple. "I'm doin' me, and I'm going after what I want! Doubt me if you want to, I don't care."
I wonder if it's not:
Working in the corner peeking over shoulders waiting for my time to come...
It's definitly "Peeking over shoulders"
I agree with polkadot except due to the video, I think she's a boxer, not dancer. Also, it's definitely 'working in the corner', I think.
I've heard her interviewed (and also met her in person!) and she used to be a back-up dancer for other swedish artists. So If there's anything that could be about something like that it's dancing. But I'm pretty positive it's about her music career because I know she's worked really hard to get as far as she has, especially with such an unusual singing style.
