I think it's about him having feelings for this girl but for some reason they can't get together. Instead of telling her how he feels, he has another glass of wine until it's all gone. At the end of the day she goes home, and he watches her leave through the door with the words he wants to say still caught in his mouth.
i think this song is about wanting to share things in a relationship but not having the desire to anymore, but they still kinda stick around to see what will happen. hmm im not sure, i do know that i love angus and julia stone, their lyrics are always awesome to read.
