Bob Lyrics
Bob goes to church every Sunday
Every Sunday that the fish ain't bitin'
Bob never have to have dinner with the Preacher
Cos' Bob never bothered gettin' married
He likes to drink a beer or two every now and again
He always had more dogs than he ever had friends
Bob ain't light in the loafers
He might kneel but he never bends over
Bob takes care of his Momma
She's the only one he lets call him Robert
She don't drive anymore so he takes her to the store
And keeps her yard lookin' just like she wants it
Every week at the beauty shop Bob's Momma hears
That another woman's made 'nother man disappear
Robert ain't exactly scared o' women
He's just got his own way o' livin'
Bob's still gotta antenna on a pole
2 channels come in 2 more come 'n go
He used to watch the news but he don't anymore
Ain't none of it new it's the same as before
He figures all any of it's any good for's
Keepin' everybody bored till there ain't nobody
Like Bob anymore
Bob takes care of his Momma
She's a mess but he feels like he oughtta
A big a mess today as bob will say
"she's a big un and she's gonna be a lotta"
He likes to drink a beer or two every now and again
He always had more dogs than he ever had friends
Bob ain't light in the loafers
He might kneel but he never bends over
Every Sunday that the fish ain't bitin'
Bob never have to have dinner with the Preacher
Cos' Bob never bothered gettin' married
He always had more dogs than he ever had friends
He might kneel but he never bends over
She's the only one he lets call him Robert
She don't drive anymore so he takes her to the store
And keeps her yard lookin' just like she wants it
That another woman's made 'nother man disappear
He's just got his own way o' livin'
2 channels come in 2 more come 'n go
He used to watch the news but he don't anymore
He figures all any of it's any good for's
Keepin' everybody bored till there ain't nobody
Like Bob anymore
She's a mess but he feels like he oughtta
A big a mess today as bob will say
"she's a big un and she's gonna be a lotta"
He always had more dogs than he ever had friends
He might kneel but he never bends over

I think we all know a Bob.
BOB IS NOT GAY. BOB IS FAT. JESUS, "AIN'T LIGHT IN THE LOAFERS" - HEAVY. "MIGHT KNEEL BUT HE NEVER BENDS OVER" - FAT AND LAZY. ARE YOU KIDDING. YOU are ALL the homophobes.
Bob isn't gay! That's the point...he's just a good ol boy. 'He might kneel but never bends over' and 'ain't light in the loafers'....hellooo means he isn't gay.
Ode to the good old boys that are just a tick away from normal, but are good people regardless.
I guess even if some folks suspects Bob might be light in the loafers, so what. Minds his own business, fishes, looks after his momma, goes to church. You ain't got to screw women to be a good ol' boy now days. Don't believe the hype, the South is progressing.
Please, Bob is not gay. You guys must be young and naive if you dont know somebody like Bob.
I was at the Cooley solo shows in Birmingham in Dec 2011, and Cooley was very clear that this song has nothing to do with homophobia. Cooley said, "There are two kinds of men in the world: those who know who Bob is, and those who don't, and orientation's got nothing to do with it."
My guess is Bob also isn't on Facebook.
Song describes my uncle completely. He's not gay. I assume most people with southern family's has a "Bob."
They want to be left alone for the most part, don't really have friends, are usually the family member who stays and takes care of his mother after his dad dies. He's essentially the guy who forgoes his life to take care of a family member, but that's not a big deal because he didn't want the "typical" life anyway.
Bob knows he's different, but it's not because he's gay. I think Cooley makes that pretty clear with the news portion:
"Ain't none of it new it's the same as before He figures all any of it's any good for's Keepin' everybody bored till there ain't nobody Like Bob anymore"
"Kneel" refers to praying. Royalfowey has the right idea.
