This is sooo good. She has such a perfect voice for this song.

she fucking kills this song and i mean that in the best way possible. you can really hear the emotion in her voice play out in each line as she sings it. i know it sounds like she's yearning for a man who is out of her reach, someone who doesn't really know she exists in a way. however, my very first thought on hearing the words was that the "he/him" is actually god. i know this was written by phil spektor so who really knows, but just reading the line:

"Oh, everyone says there'll come a day When I'll walk alongside of him"

kind of sounds like the promise of heaven after death. it's a stretch, i know, but a thought nonetheless.

Sorry, I think you are mistaken. This is definitely about a man, a love of her life. I feel like you can almost feel that.

This is definitely.....walking down the aisle, getting married. Why would everyone say that about just her? Very wrong. I'm sure " Be my baby" was about "God" too.

Spector's father who gassed himself in a suicide has a gravestone which reads, To know his was to love him. Spector changed the tense and made it into a love song, but the poster who says there's some element of the supernatural here is right. And remember all the love songs about dead teens, the whole James Dean kind of thing -- there is that element in it, not just passing youth and the evanescence of love, but also death.

You don't know him like I know him. Outwardly he may appear to be a man confused. He did things that hurt me, and hurt himself. Yet, there are things about him that are thrilling and rare to find. If you only knew him, the way I know him, you would understand my Love for him.
