Broken Heartbeats Sound Like Breakbeats

I think this songs about like how older generations expect so much from youths, and they expect them to do what they have failed at. This puts alot of stress on the kids and they are being forced to go into the things they dont have passion for. Like: "'I see songs in shapes and colours Not nuclear physics or pottery ovens" This is saying that like people expect them to go into jobs that other people think highly of, but this destroys kids creativity, just so the parents can be proud of their children when the child might like creative subjects such as music, art, etc.

They also say that children are basically dead as soon as they are born: "Bear this child directly into misery" This is because the childs future is already planned out for them, its not their own but the one that their parents wished they'd had: "So I can be the beacon of hope that you'd always expected"

Then the band tell you to not be like that : "So stick with your instincts Stick with the imprints" It basically means dont do what they want you to do, do what you want.

best song off the album, i feel. The lyrics are absolutely amazing.

this i one of my faves by them too, the lyrics are really awesome, although as usual make little sense to me, the bridge is really cool though

I love this cd so much. I just started listening to it a few days ago, and each day I think I have a new favorite song. First it was "don't tell me to do the math(s)", the next day "my year in lists", the next this one (ie broken heartbeats), and now maybe "we throw parties, you throw knives".

I love the part "Kiss him in the face with no lips and no tongue But with your little, middle, index and ring fingers" it's so childlike, when you make puppets with your hands and the 'characters' kiss. That's what comes to my mind anyway :] Just pure innocence and fun!

I think this song talks about how today's world wants to force us into a job and a life that we don't want to live. But then starkly contrasts this notion with the refrain stating basically that musicians, and in this case los campensinos!, are beacons of hope to the downtrodden office workers of the world who wanted to be musicians.

this lyric gives me the impression that this is from the perspective of a creative individual trying to be stifled by society. Singing 'I see songs in shapes and colours Not nuclear physics or pottery ovens
