Medusa Lyrics

Mother would tell me I was a pretty girl
Then she would cry all night
Nobody thinks that really they're being cruel
When they suggest that I should try to look like them
As if God loved the pretty ones best

Damn 'em all - I create my own perfection
Damn 'em all in the face of their rejection
Damn 'em all - well this dog will have its day
My garden's full of pretty men who couldn't stay away

Notice the ones who all like to criticize
Are the ones trying to hide
Why would I sell my soul to be one of them
Better to love the me within behind the skin
I choose to be a goddess inside

Damn 'em all - I create my own perfection
Damn 'em all in the face of their rejection
Damn 'em all - well this dog will have its day
My garden's full of pretty men who couldn't stay away

Damn 'em all - I create my own perfection
Damn 'em all in the face of their rejection
Damn 'em all - well this dog will have its day
My garden's full of pretty men who couldn't stay away

Damn 'em all!

Love this one ^^ You can tell how it applies to Medusa with the line "My garden's full of pretty men who couldn't stay away"

its full of men because she turns them to stone

Love this song, but one thing confuses me. I thought that in legend, Medusa was pretty, so pretty infact that she ended up with Poseidon and an enraged Athena (the Goddess whose temple she was a maiden in) turned her into a Gorgon as punishment. If this is true then the lines in the song about Medusa being young and her mother lying about her being pretty makes no sense...

You're right, Medusa was very pretty. She also was a priestess at the Temple of Athena. Poseidon raped her to enrage Athena, and it worked. Athena punished Medusa and her sisters by turning them into Gorgons. Athena couldn't punish Poseidon, as he was both male and a God, so she took out her anger on the sisters.

@SerenaCrystalMoon I thought it ment her mother worried something like what happened would happen. That one of the gods would take notice of her.

I can't believe no one has commented on this song yet!

I love it. To me, it talks about myself. I'm not your generic pretty, but I'm beautiful anyways and I try to carry myself with confidence despite having psychical flaws.
