Drug Abuse and or Self destruction? or Volcanoes .... good song

Awesome, powerful song. A few corrections;

First lyrics are "Hot lava, Come Down, Big Monkey Flow" And another is that he says "Big kicka mule dipped in black cotton" not hot cotton.

Anyway, in my opinion the song is no question about drugs... The title is perfect. In nature, Lava is awe inspiring to witness first hand, a rush of sorts (not unlike the hot rush from taking certain drugs). But once lava gets out of hand, it can be quite destructive. Also, as lava cools, it hardens and more and more lava and rock build up on top of it, representing addiction. Each verse represents a different drug. The first is alcohol, 2nd marijuana, 3rd coke, 4th heroin, and 5th is meth. After certain "gateway" drugs like alcohol and MJ, one just wants to get higher and higher, building up more and more of an addiction to harder and harder drugs (alluding to the lava build up once again)... Thats how i feel about the song anyway...

Lava is about Heroin, certain parts of the lyrics seem to go through the whole terrible cycle.

starting with using, then coming down, "floating down like a rain". Then starting to get sick, and needing and searching to get some more. " hot Lava cool down big travel every town", with "roll it over with a Ball and Chain" meaning you're doing it with the monkey on your back.

"On the always make ready to burn What the hell is in your Lost and your found Got lotta those time Some owner lost He wants nothin' but the kick underground"

could be that you're at all times looking to rob and steal, no matter who or what, because nothing else matters except getting that next fix.

"Big kicka mule Dipped in hot cotton Make water like candy And a fever like mine Big boiler Make rotten grey matter not spoiled like the child who pops them two at a time"

This could be getting a hot shot, "big kicka mule", or doing too much " big boiler". But either way....eventually..... You're gonna get that permanent " kick underground".

And all the while you have the voice of Heroin, or Satan...or both, gleefully telling you that with the "Hot Lava", you will indeed " BE HEALED!!!!".

whatever its meaning is, it's another phenomenal song from what I consider their best album, "Filth Pig".
