So I've been sleeping with this silence in my mind
And all I see scares me
And no one knows it, but she, she saved me

So I've been sleeping with this silence in my brain
I wake up here everyday in this god damn place
I won't wait here anymore

It's still not quite the way it was
But you promised me this is love
So stay and watch the hospital
That's just across the street
From your apartment balcony
I'll never ever leave there
I'll never leave

Oh, no one is watching now
Sing like you just might drown
But always come back home
'Cause I never got to see you once more, no
I guess that's all I wanted
Yeah, I guess that's all I needed

Now look, we've made a fool out of love
When all we want is to be enough
When all we want is to feel enough

It's still not quite the way it was
But you promised me this is love
So stay and watch the hospital
That's just across the street
From your apartment balcony
I'll never ever leave there
I'll never leave

Watch the hospital that's just across the street
(It's still not quite the way it was)
From your apartment balcony
(But you promised me this is love, so stay)
I'll never ever leave there
I'll stay here

    My Interpretation

I love this song a lot! I'm addicted to it.

I think that this song is about how this girl changed a guy's life, but they broke up, and he still can't let her go.

"So I've been sleeping with this silence in my mind And all I see scares me And no one knows it, but she, she saved me" She changed his life and he still can't get that out of his head.

"But you promised me this is love So stay and watch the hospital That's just across the street From your apartment balcony I'll never ever leave there I'll never leave" He thought they were supposedly "in love", but I guess the girl didn't exactly feel the same way. He'll never stop loving her and won't ever forget her.

"Now look, we've made a fool out of love When all we want is to be enough When all we want is to feel enough" That's my favorite part of the song.

    My Interpretation

it could mean something completely different to everyone else but to me this is about someone troubled who attempted suicide but just ended up in the hospital. things obviously cant be the same as it was before something like that happened but they still love this other person very much and dont want them to leave them. and when they say they'll never leave the hospital they dont mean that theyll physically never leave because they will check out in time but that mentally/emotionally theyre never going to feel better, but they still love this other person and want to stay with them

i like thinking about this song that way because this meaning is very personal to me. its probably not what the song means but its the meaning to me and i love it. this is a beautiful song

wow this song is so amazing im so excited for the new album! and yes it is very different from this december one. oh yeah and leighton was sick... didn't he have internal bleeding or something? :( anyways yeah... i love this song. im not really sure about the meaning i think its about someone in the hospital that is very ill and he loves this girl so much but doesnt know how to tell her? i have no idea. but i think it relates to that becuase the beginning is like, "So I've been sleeping with this silence in mind".. im so excited!!!!! and the other new song that they put up a couple of days ago is so good too

i think it's about a relationship that fell apart and he thinks about how she told him "this love is forever. it's love to stay" and now that the relationship is over she's "made a fool of love"

i think the line "it's still not quite the way it was" could mean that the relationships been over for quite some time but he still can't get back to the way he was before this girl.

now that it's over he feels like he wasn't good enough for her.

i also think the hospital is symbolic for his mind. like, i think he boxed up all his emotions and feelings towards this girl and the relationship but can't quite seem to put the box on the shelf and instead dwells in those thoughts. that's what he means by "i'll never leave there"

I think it's a person stuck in a coma or maybe paralyzed and can't speak or move... singing to a girlfriend or wife that came to see him for a long time, and told him she would love him forever... but finally couldn't hold on anymore, so she left... And now ... maybe he has died, but can't move on without seeing her one last time, or something... but knows everytime she sees the hosptial she thinks of him.... I know it pretty literal...

thank God for this song and for the fact that Lydia is still as wonderful as always.

not that it means this has anything to do with the lyrics, but Leighton was very sick and in the hospital last year.

Techno Ted
Audioslave
Techno Ted may be a person who caused Chris incredible emotional pain & trepidation as well as moments of peace & happiness but now is removed and awaiting his fate. Darling may be a different person who is also free of him and can live her life free of Ted's tyranny. "In between all the laughing, and daydreams ... lies: a desert of truth" Lies are like a desert or the omission of Truth: Where there were Lies then Truth was absent. The song, "Techno Ted", may be a cathartic celebration of the downfall of this person.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
