Prelude To A Kiss Lyrics

Sometimes I feel
Like I don't belong anywhere
And it's gonna take so long
For me to get somewhere

Sometimes I feel
So heavy-hearted
But I can't explain
Coz I'm so guarded

But that's a lonely road to travel
And a heavy load to bear
And it's a long, long way to Heaven
But I gotta get there

Can you send an angel
Can you send me an angel
To guide me

she doesnt know how to open up and talk about things and she doesnt want to get hurt. shes acknowledging that this isnt the best thing to do because she is so lonely and she is just praying that God can send her someone so she wont be so alone and to help her get through these things that she needs to talk about.

Such a beautiful song! One of my favorites off "As I Am." Meaning-wise, it sounds very overwhelmed. Like saying that there's something wrong, and she's been trying to handle it all by herself, and she's admitting she needs some guidance.

This song is also up there with "Lesson Learned" as being one of her most personal songs. I honestly believe that.

This is not the first song that alicia has written about feeling alone or that she feels she doesnt have anyone to talk to. Some say that it is a song written about the children she encounters in Africa but i feel it is also a statement of her own personal grief. Alot of times celebrities feel alone- because they feel no one understands them beyond just the fame and fortune. Money isnt everything. You can have it all and still feel like you are alone. I can already sense that alicia is one who doesnt find it easy to open up about her emotions- and she masks them the best way she can to keep those around her satisfied. I believe this song is a cry to God to send someone who will understand her for who she is- Alicia Cook- not alicia keys. Alot of times all celebrities want is for someone to accept them for who they honestly are- stripped of the fame and fortune.
