Margery's Apartment Lyrics
Gonna kick this disease
And get back to ya’ll
Gonna shake it off
And lay down the law
Lay down law
Well I'm not gonna write
And I’m not gonna call
This shakins got my hands
And I cant sing too well
And I cant sing too well
Sing me that song
That we sung in the kitchen
How does it go?
Bring the children along
Bring the children too
And if I go blind
I’ll recognize your touch
Could we go dancing tonight
And I’ll follow your steps
And get back to ya’ll
Gonna shake it off
And lay down the law
Lay down law
And I’m not gonna call
This shakins got my hands
And I cant sing too well
And I cant sing too well
That we sung in the kitchen
How does it go?
Bring the children along
Bring the children too
I’ll recognize your touch
Could we go dancing tonight
And I’ll follow your steps

wondering what the disease is? alcoholism?
Where can I go to buy or listen to this song? I remember listening to it years ago in my dorm room in college, but lost the CD it was on. I think the version I remember was longer and may have had some reference to a house being flooded. I would be unspeakably grateful if anyone could help me out!

Withdrawal from alcoholism can make your hands shake. And, I've heard moonshine can make you go blind. I can see how it could be about a man or woman in a residential rehab program trying to "kick" alcohol so he can get back to his wife and kids.

Maybe I'm wrong, but, I've always thought of this as being about an elderly couple. When you grow old, your hands often shake, your vision diminishes ("if I go blind"), you can't sing as well as you once could ("i can't sing too well") and can lose your memory ("how...
Maybe I'm wrong, but, I've always thought of this as being about an elderly couple. When you grow old, your hands often shake, your vision diminishes ("if I go blind"), you can't sing as well as you once could ("i can't sing too well") and can lose your memory ("how does it go?"). I don't think this meaning explains the first few stanzas, though.
