Minute by minute Lyrics

This is a New Year lullaby, I can not fake it.
You know the reasons, don’t ask why.
When I got drunk and crashed the car, were you still near me?
Still I’ve got writing on my face.

Minute by minute, day by day,
Though I can touch you you’re so far away.
Minute by minute, day by day,
Minute by minute, day by day,
Though I can touch you you’re so far away.
Minute by minute, day by day, two packs a day.

This is an Easter crucified, buried in levels.
Though I’m still bleeding I won’t die.
I can see violence in your eyes; I’ve run out of water.
Satan is singing me lullabies.

Minute by minute, day by day,
Though I can touch you you’re so far away.
Minute by minute, day by day. Ooh.
Minute by minute, day by day,
Though I can touch you you’re so far away.
Minute by minute, day by day, two packs a day.

Ooh la la, ohh la la, ohh la la (etc)

I know it’s time to say goodbye, but I’m still wasted
This is no time for me to…
Now that its all been said and done, our house is empty.
Where do I go now you have gone?

Minute by minute, day by day,
Though I can touch you you’re so far away.
Minute by minute, day by day. Ooh.
Minute by minute, day by day,
Though I can touch you you’re so far away.
Minute by minute, day by day, two packs a day.

To me this song has always been about the radio i know but im wrong but my interpretation of "though i can touch you you're so far away" has always been the radio is always there but you can never really touch it. If you disagree with me then get over it cos thats just my peronal thoughts.

The reference to Jessica is about Jessica Michalik who died of asphyxiation five days after being crushed in a mosh pit during the 2001 Big Day Out whilst Limp Bizkit was playing. She was a huge Grinspoon fan, and they performed at her funeral.

No you sillies. This is a song dedicated to Phil's wife. When Phil was hooked on meth he did some pretty crazy stuff.

"When I got drunk and crashed the car, were you still near me? Still Ive got writing on my face"

Refers to his wife. Phil wondering if his wife was by his side in hospital after he crashed his car on an ice bender.

"Now that its all been said and done, our house is empty. Where do I go now you have gone?"

Refers to when his wife left him due to his addiction to ice.

Yeh thats right. I'm the grand champ!!

She did not leave him because he was on meth she left him because he had an affair

id say this is about her leaving him

Phil is now clean and back together with his wife and 2 children

I'd guess it's about struggling with addiction - though he's clean, the temptation is always there ("satan is singing me lullabies". But it's a positive song - "though I can touch you, you're so far away" - he knows he could go back, but he has no intention of doing so; and "though I'm still bleeding, I won't die" - he's determined to get through it.

Eloquent, succinct and soulful. Wish I could write like that!
