Children In The Streets Lyrics

children in the street

there's more than enough to feed this world
we close our eyes and choke on opulence
climb the hill of suffering
walk the road of change
we can't, we can't
will anyone ever care
about anyone besides themselves?

we are the slaves of humanity
forget about what we need
it's only what we think we need
we are the cursed of the human race
even though we have it all
all we want is a bigger place

children in the street

don't close your eyes, we won't be ignored
don't turn away, we won't go away
climb the hill of suffering
walk the road of change
we can't, we can't
will anyone ever care
about anyone besides themselves?

we are the slaves of humanity
forget about what we need
it's only what we think we need
we are the cursed of the human race
even though we have it all
all we want is a bigger place

Cover art for Children In The Streets lyrics by Edison Glass

I interpreted that the song was saying that there shouldn't be people living very poor in america and a lot of us take we get for granted and are greety. Even though we have it all all we want is a bigger place is explaining how greedy people are. That's how i feel about the lyrics.

wealth is not having more wealth is having enough

But the slaves of humanity cannot ever have enough ... so poverty and greed run a destructive course through their lives and contentment remains elusive.
