Hero (Red Pill Mix) Lyrics

No one sits with him, he doesn't fit in
But we feel like we do when we make fun of him
Cause you want to belong do you go along?
Cause his pain is the price paid for you to belong
It's not like you hate him or want him to die
But maybe he goes home and thinks suicide
Or he comes back to school with a gun at his side
Any kindness from you might have saved his life

Heroes are made when you make a choice

You could be a hero
Heroes do what's right
You could be a hero
You might save a life
You could be a hero, You could join the fight
For what's right for what's right for what's right

No one talks to her, she feels so alone
She's in too much pain to survive on her own
The hurt she can't handle overflows to a knife
She writes on her arm, wants to give up her life
Each day she goes on is a day that she is brave,
Fighting the lie that giving up is the way,
Each moment of courage her own life she saves
When she throws the pills out a hero is made

Heroes are made when you make a choice

You could be a hero
Heroes do what's right
You could be a hero
You might save a life
You could be a hero, You could join the fight
For what's right for what's right for what's right

No one talks to him about how he lives
He thinks that the choices he makes are just his
Doesn't know he's a leader with the way he behaves
And others will follow the choices he's made
He lives on the edge, he's old enough to decide
His brother who wants to be him is just nine
He can do what he wants because it's his right
The choices he makes change a nine year old's life

You could be a hero
Heroes do what's right
You could be a hero
You might save a life
You could be a hero, You could join the fight
For what's right for what's right for what's right

Little Mikey D. was the one in class who everyday got brutually harassed
This went on for years until he decided that never again would he shed another tear
So he walked through the door, grabbed a four four out of his father's dressing drawer
And said I can't take life no more
And like that life can be lost
But this ain't even about that
All of us just sat back and watched it happen
Thinkin' it's not my responsibility to solve a problem that isn't about me
This is our problem
This is just one of the daily scenarios which we choose to close our eyes
Instead of doing the right thing
If we make a choice and be the voice for those who won't speak up for themselves
How many lives would be saved, changed, rearranged
Now it's our time to pick a side
So don't keep walkin' by
Not wantin' to intervene
Cause you wanna exist and never be saved
So let's wake up and change the world
Our time is now

You could be a hero
Heroes do what's right
You could be a hero
You might save a life
You could be a hero, You could join the fight
For what's right for what's right for what's right

Oh. My. Gods. This song... When I first heard it, I was like 'Eh, it's pretty good', and I wasn't listening to the lyrics at all. Then I just heard 'She writes on her arm, wants to give up her life' and I'm like 'What?' So I looked up the lyrics, and omg, this song is wonderful. I can't even begin to count how many times I felt like this. It's just...wow. I'm doing my next video on this. This is just fucking amazing. I'm crying. I hate rap, but the rap part was simply amazing. This whole song is. Anyway, what I think it means, even though it's quite obvious: All these kids are made fun of because they are different, and they just can't take it anymore, so they result to suicide or self-harm or whatever. And the

No one talks to him about how he lives He thinks that the choices he makes are just his Doesn't know he's a leader with the way he behaves And others will follow the choices he's made He lives on the edge, he's old enough to decide His brother who wants to be him is just nine He can do what he wants because it's his right The choices he makes change a nine year old's life

part is about how that kid thinks he's so cool and no one can control him, and he's better then others, and his younger brother looks up to him, and wants to be just like him, so his brother becomes like him and cause pain upon others too, and if the boy hadn't been like that, pain could've been spared.

This song is just really touching.

Love this song. It is basically saying that by watching people screw themselves is just as helpful as screwing them yourself.

ok this is my first time ever commenting here so here goes

i think this song is about teenagers now a days where thier r kids who make fun of kids to fit in or kids that cut them selves or take pills to take away the pan in their life and how younger siblings wanna be like their bigger sibling and they want to follow there older sibling and the red pill part is i think about how when a kid like he says gets brutually harassed in class and the kid gets sick of it and grabs a gun and shoots his/her self to get rid of the pain and how every one does nothing to stop the kid how they just watch and not care and how if you try to stop them you could save that kids life ......well thats what i think of this song i'm not sure any one would agree with me but hell i bet some one will :) i'm out ya all going back to gaiaonline.com see ya

So obviously the song is about the modern youth's struggle with peer abuse and depression but at the same time it can go for adults as well every story wether about a boy a girl or kid or adult can go either way. this song is a great help aid form some people but at the same time things arent as easy to come out with i was never a cutter or pill popper or anything really i abused pot but other then that i know alot of people that went through teen depression and it wasnt easy for them to come out with it because people dont understand what they are dealing with you cant just give a 15 year old 7 differnt pills and hope one will work and you cant really get into there head if they wo9nt let you so helping them is hard and really they have to help them selvs to let you help them it doesnt take a doctor to help someone anyone can help as long as they have an open ear and open mind

before this version of Hero came out, i kind of overlooked the original as a "good song" that had a "good message", that maybe didn't have music that backed up its intensity. But after i bought Regeneration and listened to this track....

wow.

this is definitely in the top 3 most powerful Superchick songs. Hands down. I cried, just because of the reality of the subject, the way it's presented, and most importantly, how relevant it was to me.

i'm really proud of the band for sticking up and calling people out on this, you know? i felt guilty, and this song was an extra push toward being a true light for Christ: not just living a "good, christian life" by attending church, not cursing, etc., but by really being a representative for God. And Jesus is real in the sense of dealing with issues, getting in people's faces about things when necessary, and certainly didn't back down because of a threat of rejection. I've been on the side of things where i was making fun of someone else, just because my freinds were, or being a jerk to someone because they weren't my definition of cool. But after listening to this song, i understand how utterly pathetic and hypocritical that really is. How can i call myelf a CHRISTian, when i'm standing directly outside of my church, making fun of a kid for having a stutter?

So, yeah. i've made some changes-for one i don't take that kind of crap from myself, or my friends, especially the christian ones-what kind of testimony are you putting out there, mocking and disrespecting someone?

this was way longer than i intended, but there's my mini-testimony for you...

and i agree with MomoTheStrange:

i'm not one for rap, either, but the raw delivery and conviction here really drive the song home. Like, don't just say, "aw, those poor kids. that must be hard for them." The rap takes it another step, even in a different direction (the one i'm sure the band intended): this issue isn't /about/ the fact that there is pain, it's about the fact that there are individuals standing on the sidelines, watching as people injure others, to the ultimate ruin of their own lives, and even worse, the lives of those around them.

okay. i'm stopping haha sorry this is so long...

well when i first heard this song it really spoke to me i think it means that when people make fun of people they dont really think about what its really doin to the person there making fun of they dont understand whats really going on in that persons life and its not like they care or even try to get to no them but when ur making fun of someone you really dont no if that person thinks about killing themself or anyone elce i also think this song is trying to say that you may not be trying to hurt someone or get them to kill thereself but you dont no how they think and you may just be trying to "act" cool but really when you come to think about it the cooler person is the one that stands up and saves a life

This. Song. Kicks. Butt.

I LOVE IT SO MUCH!!! It really captures how it feels to be an outcast, that feeling of just wanting to, well, die. I should know. I've been an outcast for the longest time. It also captures how CLUELESS the kids at my school are.

"But we feel like we do when we make fun of him." The kids at my school thinking that they're "cool" when they pick on people

"It's not like like we hate him or want him to die." Those kids thinking that because that kid "knows" that they don't hate him, it gives them a right to pick on them.

"No one talks to her, she feels so alone." Everyone ignoring me, no matter what.

"She's in too much pain to survive on her own." Them not realizing that I live with a perfect older sister, a mom who treats me like a little sister and a dad that yells at me whenever my mom leaves for a business trip, and that my mind is slowly falling apart.

"She writes on her arm, wants to give up her life." Me torturing myself and my thoughts of suicide.

"When she throws the pills out, her own life she saves." Deciding not to hang myself, even though I had everything ready.

"Little Mikey D was a guy in class I brutally harassed." A kid a couple years back who was bullied to the extreme.

"And like that, a life can be lost." You guessed it. That kid committed suicide.

SHOUT OUT TO THE PRINCIPAL OF WINDERMERE! You see, bullying is a huge deal. Start by dealing with the big bullying problems like kids getting beat-up outside, and not dealing with little things like saving seats for your friends at lunch. The bigs things are the things that matter. The big things cause people to commit suicide. Get your facts straight! My god.

P.S. I'm totally asking to do this as a solo in chorus ;D

Stop Bullying, AlysonTheFlyingFox

Gah, typo. I meant "mom who treats me like a little kid."
