A Cold Wind Will Blow Through Your Door Lyrics

Night will follow day
Sure as the sun and moon
Remember I will always be with you
If i'm out of words to say
And I understand you
When you see a darkness coming through
Remember to keep one take shelter from the storm
The night will not last for much more
I wrote in a small note
put on your winter coat
A cold wind will blow through your door
Night will follow day
Sure as the sun and moon
Remember I will always be with you
Just fold your hands and pray
And I am beside you
Tell mother I hope to see you through
Remember to keep one take shelter from the storm
The night will not last for much more
I wrote in a small note
put on your winter coat
A cold wind will blow through your door

This song reminds me of Tori Amos' song "Winter", which is about wintertime, and her dad. A line from her song says: "I put my hand in my father's glove." I think this song is about dads too, and how they can be a constant in their kid's lives. It's also about how parents can't protect their children from everything.

Really? I always saw it as a protective caring and warm song about a couple. "I wrote in a small note, put on your winter coat, a cold wind will blow through your door". Now that I'm analyzing the lyrics I really think its about the guy with bad news (a cold wind) telling his other half to get ready for the news (put on your winter coat), but that it will pass (night will follow day sure as the sun and moon). And that he'll come back from whatever this bad news is taking him (I will always be with you, the night will not last for much more). Either way I love it. Has hit closest to me than any other song has. It's weird, I know.

"Night will follow day" It's like saying life is made up of good times and bad times.

"Put on your winter coat" Surround yourself with the things that protect you like family and friends.

"A cold wind will blow through your door" The hard times, they will come.

I always took this song as an older brother looking out for his sister, mostly backed up by the lyrics “tell mother I’ll help to see you through”. It always came across as a protective song
