Another Angel Down

Tobi's character in this album is, to put it lightly, a bit messed in the head. Bad things have happened to him, and he was pretty down. The love of his life barely knows his name, and he only has one real friend to speak of (played by Jorn Lande). This song is all about turning your life around and realising that there is something to live for after all.

"I am the master of the game that made a fool of you"

That'd be that tricky game called 'love'.

"You got the aura to enchant them - and a symphony And I have got the power"

I interpret this as Jorn saying "look, you can be a great guy, you're pretty awesome when you're not being such an emo. Let me show you".

"You better taste - they call it life: my special area I'm breeding winners over there (yeah)"

Jorn, in other words, is having a great time. And by the sound of it, getting lots of 'love practice'.

"Ain't it a sin to turn your back On what you re given It's time to take your share"

I.e., stop contemplating suicide and get out there and have fun.

I think its about hope, and good things coming from dropping religion.

Taste life, live it. Don't be bound by silly made-up laws. Also it means from the third line, that if God had made something for you, why not take it?

He's been paying more attention to religion than real things.

We rock the ball! Been smashed to the ground Arose from devotion To take a look and see what is inside Sight of the crown: Another angel down (oooh)

"Been smashed to the ground" is essentially "Coming down-to-Earth. Hard." He then, since coming down to Earth, arose from religion (gave it up, is better without it) and looked at what it really was. (Lies that keep you from your full potential enjoyment of life).

There's no tomorrow I don't remember yesterday I'm just living for tonight And all the love I'm not gonna waste No more: I won't, spill what's divine!

Tomorrow and Yesterday represent "Other lives" ex. " I was a pirate in my past life, and I hope I can be a (something) in my next one!"

They left you for dead Turning your head Away form the living From flesh and blood You've got the draw and desire to claw For fortune and fame

This sums up most of the points made in the song. Religion stopping you from seeing reality, and how it stops you from, your full potential.

"Another Angel Down" means that another person has dropped religion. (Angel representing a religious person).

Sorry to break it to you, but Jorn Lande (the other guy singing) plays Mephistopiles in this album, and taking into account the facts that the song preceding this one (What Kind of Love) is essentially the love of Tobi's character's life blatantly rejecting him and that the album only spirals downwards from here until he basically gives up on love, I'd say that this song is basically an approximation of the devil tempting Tobi's character away from anything that could make him happy. Case in point:

"They left you for dead Turning your head Away from the living From flesh and blood"

Avantasia is an anomaly in which you have to look at the lyrics in context to the rest of the album to see where they fit into the story. They're genius.
