I think this song can either be interpreted as a break up song or as the loss of a loved one.
"Just cant believe your gone, still waitin for mornin to come, when i see if the sun will Rise" It's like losing them, they lost everything. They feel everything should have stopped because with the loss of that person everything in their world seems wrong.
"They can take tomorrow and the plans we made, they can take the music that we'll never play, all The broken dreams, take everything, just take it away, but they can never have yesterday." I think that line is beautiful. This song is bascially saying that without this person they lost their dreams they lost the plans they had, everything. But they will learn to live with the memories of yesterday and they dont regret knowing them because the memories they shared made the pain of losing them in the end worth it anyways.
It really is a beautiful song. Leona has stunning vocals. She is my favorite female singer. :]
I think this song is more likley to be about the loss of a loved one rather than an "Ex." In the chorus she refers to a "they" which i assume is like god or the powers that be up above, in death they have taken him away very suddenly. They have taken their entire future but they can never erase their past and her memories of him.
This line proves with a 100% certainty it's about losing a loved one. If he always chooses to stay why would he leave. Also saying "I know I will see you again" is generally what you say about someone who has passed on. I think if an EX up and left me I would be filled with despair but also anger and rage. There is none of this in this song, it's v peaceful and tranquil. A very emotional song, I wish she had released it as a single.
I think this song is greatly about Leona losing her cousin Billie to Leukaemia just before she won the X Factor in 2006.

"**You always used to say, i should be thankful for everyday" - Billie decided to go home in the last few weeks of her life, saying that she wanted to live life as normally possible. So I imagine that in this line Billie must have told everyone she loved to make the most of their lives.
"**No I can't believe it, I can still find the strength in the moments we made" - Obviously Leona can't believe she's gone.
I like how the song ends on "But they can never have yesterday", because its just saying "They can take physically take youa way from me, but the memories will stay with me forever".

this is a song deffinatly about a lost love.. relationship, loved one... just someone who is lost somehow...either died or no longer around. i love this song sooo much!

In this song I think she's trying to sing it to an ex or someone she's love that is no longer there. Basically, no matter what's lost and whats gone...what isn't lost is yesterday..... the memories you have lives on forever and thats something NO ONE can take from you.
