Safeguard to Paradise Lyrics
Memories that fade away
Have not left their mark
But you live on, every single day
In many different ways
It’s the truth between his cunning lips
That hands him his suspicious alibis
Persuading with your force will never be the way
To our destiny
Suddenly we’ve lost the force
To close our cursed doors
No one seems to realise
That wolves are in disguise
It’s the truth between his cunning lips
That hands him his suspicious alibis
Persuading with your force will never be the way
To our destiny
Your engine was so strong
But the road was just too long
Hope is not the end
So never lose the faith
As long as we can say
They can never take away
Our freedom, the most precious thing we’ve ever had
The reward from the blood, we’ve ever shed
His quest for higher truth, life of eternal youth has just begun,
in spite of being on the run
Many virgins wait for him to come
Persuading with your force will never be the way
To our destiny
Our destiny
Have not left their mark
But you live on, every single day
In many different ways
That hands him his suspicious alibis
Persuading with your force will never be the way
To our destiny
To close our cursed doors
No one seems to realise
That wolves are in disguise
That hands him his suspicious alibis
Persuading with your force will never be the way
To our destiny
But the road was just too long
Hope is not the end
So never lose the faith
They can never take away
Our freedom, the most precious thing we’ve ever had
The reward from the blood, we’ve ever shed
in spite of being on the run
Many virgins wait for him to come
Persuading with your force will never be the way
To our destiny
Our destiny

This song is about a someone who's been a victim of a suicide action of a fundamentalist. Its a protest song and dedicated to Theo van Gogh(he's a dutch television/film maker) who's been murdered in 2004 by a fundamentalist because of his ideas. And about our freedom, that it is in danger en if we do something or not.

At first, I didn't know what the hell this song was about. It seemed to be a sad ballade of some sort...
But then I noticed these lyrics ''Many virgins wait for him to come''. And after that, everything came into place. I explain now:
This song is about a suicide bomber, most likely a muslim extremist. I don't know very much about Islam, but I know that suicide bombers are being promised a place in paradise with seven virgins for eternity if he kills enemies of Islam. Just read through the lyrics with that interpetarion in mind, you'll see it fits pretty good.
''No one seems to realise that wolves are in disguise''
Anyway, it's a lovely song with a sad and heavy mood.
I know this is probably too late but the line:
It’s the truth between his cunning lips
"lips" is actually supposed to be "lies" (that's what i'm hearing so idk)
anyways...love this song has a sort of movie soundtrack-esque tone to it
The song is about suicide bombers, inspired by religion. The virgins refer to the promise suicide bombers are told that if they sacrifice themselves there will be 42 virgins or some ridiculous number like that, waiting for them in paradise if they sacrifice themselves for "Allah". So there you have it, for muslims, it's all about pussy in heaven. One extra note, there is a mistake in the lyrics, when it says: "Is the truth between its cunning lips..." it's not lips, it's "lies".
I can't figure out what the hell this song is about. Persuading with force, virgins... maybe it's about rape, but then there's the search for higher truth, and I'm totally confused. Someone help... any ideas?
The song is talking about religion. Someone is looking for the "higher truth" and the "virgins" to me are the nuns. The whole album is about a guy who denies religion.
No, it's about a Muslim suicide bomber. The line, "Many virgins wait for him" gives that away.

This song is gorgeous! It's really fun to sing along with, especially cause of how it goes from high to low notes.
I think it, like most of the album, is about being conflicted between two different things. Or losing belief in something.
and typo! 'cunning lips' is really 'cunning lies' I have the album booklet right here. lol
Simone's voice is so chilling in this song.
