Shadows and City Lights Lyrics

Downwards we operate
And I go all to pieces
For just once you imitate someone who is loving
And I am scared of you
Always you come around
Saying that you're sorry
Take away this awful sound
That I cannot belong to
So now I'm through with you

And we owe this to ourselves
To say what we really mean
Honestly, I can't see how this could end happily
I can run to no one else
And I can't stand the thought of this
The ground beneath me breaking
And I'm falling helpless

Touching to make it work
When we know this is useless
We're holding back for fear of hurt
We were making no sense
'Cause I'm no good for you
All we need are wounds we can mend
For the chance that we can pretend again
All you need is to see an end
To tell me we can make the world turn again

And we owe this to ourselves
To say what we really mean
Honestly, I can't see how this could end happily
I can run to no one else
And I can't stand the thought of this
The ground beneath me breaking
And I'm falling helpless

Seems like its about a relationship that's been patched together numerous times and is finally ripping apart at all seams.

Cucci67, I must concur. I feel like it is someone in a relationship looking for a way out. Especially in this line: Touching to make it work When we know this is useless

I know. Out of all lines, why that one? The other lines seem like an explaination and that particular piece seems like a confession. As if the person is aware that there is nowhere else to go in the relationship but down. They are aware of exactly what their relationship is at this point. On the outside, it would seem to translate to "We are purely physical and even though it is empty it is still something"

Or something like that. I am definitely hearing someone who feels nothing for the person they are singing about, but still wants to.

Hah, I probably didn't make any sense there..

I stumbled upon this yesterday while listening to Pandora Radio. I ached to listen to it over and over. I did a search on myspace and downloaded it for free. I listened to it for almost 4 hours straight.

i think its about a toxic relationship, maybe domest violence "And I am scared of you Always you come around Saying that you're sorry"

like that person gets violent and does things that hurt their partner whether physically or emotionally but then always says sorry for it.. and this other person is getting tired of it.

they've tried to work at that but it doesnt work anymore, they feel there is no remedy they've thought about breaking apart into their own ways but they are afraid of hurting each other even more... "Touching to make it work When we know this...
