The Radio's Hot Sun Lyrics
When you were small and crawled out the river
We thought you were an animal
Then you were ten
Your parents house, it felt like a thousand years ago
La la la la.
And waters fall and living underwater.
at the bottom of a great black sea.
Silent and floating there with my brothers
Now it don't mean much to me
La la la la.
Oh when we met our bodies remember when we were only animals
We'll build a house and keep out the water until it ca-ca-ca-
can't be felt at all
La la la la
in the radio's hot sun...
we know nothing of the other side
...
we felt it's light right behind our eyes
...
we know nothing's on the other side
...
we felt it's light right behind your eyes
We thought you were an animal
Then you were ten
Your parents house, it felt like a thousand years ago
La la la la.
at the bottom of a great black sea.
Silent and floating there with my brothers
Now it don't mean much to me
La la la la.
We'll build a house and keep out the water until it ca-ca-ca-
La la la la
we know nothing of the other side
...
we felt it's light right behind our eyes
...
we know nothing's on the other side
...
we felt it's light right behind your eyes

I don't what it's really about, recapturing youth maybe, but it's wonderous and a perfect way to end a great album.
It's kind of generally Biblical. Feeling distant from your home, giant floods, not know anything about the other side.
Our bodies remember when we were only animals... Fall from grace? Human nature being lost to animal nature in throes of passion?
This song is about two people that came from bad homes. She climbed out of the "River" and he escaped from under water. (he uses water to symbolize the poisoned homes they grew up in)
Now they have met, they can build a life togher to keep the "water" out. They'll live in the radio's hot sun.
Dan Boekner wrote this song with the other Hansome Furs band member (his wife Alexei Perry). This song is about building a new life together around music.
The first sentence in the second verse should be
"When I was small and living underwater"
Third line should be "Then you returned"
I think he might be using evolution as a metaphor for his experience of growing up and meeting a girl. Out of the water, thought we were only animals, felt like a thousand years. Its almost as if hes saying we've coming so far from water but now we are denying that we came from water and are hiding in a false reality of technology the "radios hot sun". I really like mha105's idea as well! and dreams of pavement I dont see much being biblical about it. Peace.
