So I've honestly yet to hear this song, but these lyrics really touched me deeply. I could feel her pining over someone who no longer desires her: "the girl you once adored" It's almost as if she's sold herself a happy ever after that never came to pass. You can feel her love and wanting. The bittersweet of her/their departure from this happy chapter of their lives: "take a picture, take a lasting look of the girl you once adored hide it somewhere in your secret book, think of me no more"
Her pain is almost tangible, her disillusionment has kept her in this place of wanting. Though she's conscious there's no hope. Seemingly she wants to stay lost in the memory, stuck in the moments that made her happy. Though there is a strong over-tone of languish and remembrance. This is a beautiful testament to the arduous experience of love lost.
