I Can't See Myself Getting To Sleep Tonight Lyrics
And if the sunset's a mile ahead
Maybe there we can just pretend
This time, it just seems...
If I could do it all over again
And skip those mistakes I made back when
It's just the kind of situation that I was in
To take my life and turn it back around again
I find it hard to understand
That when we look back at all our time spent
You tell me some things just may seem
To matter more to me
And if the sunset's a mile ahead
Well, maybe there we can understand
This time, it just seems...
If we can forget just what was said
Maybe then we can pretend
That all of our lives
They'll be perfect in the end
We'll take our time
Maybe we'll grow up
But you'll learn from what you've done
You might believe in what you see
But no, it never made sense to me
So now I'll do it all over again
But I've learned from all of my time spent
You can't believe in the words that people said
If I want something done
I'll have to do it myself again
It makes sense a lot more to me
When see who they are
And not who they want to be
The sunset is a mile ahead
And maybe there we can just pretend
That all, yeah, that all of the dreams
That never made sense to me
And now just seems...
If we can forget what was said
Maybe then we can pretend
That all of our lives
They'll be perfect in the end
We'll take our time
Maybe we'll grow up
But you'll learn from what you've done
You might believe in what you see
But no, it never made sense to me
I'm so sick of closing my eyes
(I'm so sick of closing my eyes)
That I can't see myself getting to sleep tonight
'Cause all these dreams are locked in my mind
They'll keep me awake for days at a time
If we can forget just what was said
Maybe then we'll understand
That all of our lives will be so perfect in the end
If we forget what was said
Maybe then we'll understand
That all of our lives
They'll be perfect in the end
We'll take our time
Maybe we'll grow up
But you'll learn from what you've done

I think the full title is 'I Can't See Myself Getting To Sleep Tonight'.
I'm suprised no one's commented on this one yet, it's so good. :] Shane's voice sounds like it's beginning to get more mature. (:
Mmm but yeah this is basically self-explainatory; about learning from your mistakes and moving on and forgetting the people who don't care about you and stuff. :] Amaaazing.
I love it; hopefully I'm going to see them in June. This is from a mix called Punk the Clock Volume III. They just released another demo, I'll post the lyrics later!!!
haha kinda a situation me and an ex are going through. but is it
"You might believe in what you see But no, it never made sense to me"
or
"You might believe in what you see But know it never made sense to me"
I've always thought of this song as explaining the lose of innocence, but not to a point where your willing to give up your dreams. the name "i can't see myself getting to sleep tonight" would obviously be a main theme, of being so sick of what he finds out that he can't even sleep.
"I'm so sick of closing my eyes" is one of my favorite song lyrics of all time, its so true, he's like saying I'm tired of being ignorant, closing my eyes to the world, pretending that millions if atrocities don't occur every day. that i'll keep my eyes, i won't ignore this like everyone else does. almost as if he has a duty to stay awake, and not slip away from the reality of how life really is.
he sings about growing up and learning you can't believe in everything you see, and that looking back he can see how ignorant he was.
"And if the sunset's a mile ahead Maybe there we can just pretend" he repeatedly mentions "pretending" making me think despite being awakened he still wants to hang on to that innocence, that everything can still be as perfect as he used to think things were. He knows he can't but its a romantic idea for him that he might be able to.
"But I've learned from all of my time spent You can't believe in the words that people said If I want something done I'll have to do it myself again" oh coming to realize that you really have no one in this world but yourself, yes other people might help you in this world, but only if they are helping themselves as well. Every single action is motivated by selfishness.
I do not think of this as a love song whatsoever.
Is it "maybe well grow up but I will not let you down"...?
