Have at Thee! Lyrics

She drives me insane, drives me insane
Have at thee, false christ I've been dreaming on
She drives me insane, drives me insane
Have at thee, false christ
God damn you

She'll never let me down again
So I'll go out and get crunked with my friends
My only brand of medicine
And defecate on the lawns of the Barbies and Kens

She made me want to take a blade to my skin
And tear out the machine she installed from within
I'll blow her love away

She drives me insane, drives me insane
Have at thee, false christ I've been dreaming on
Drives me insane, drives me insane
Have at thee, false christ
God damn you
Out of my mind, out of my brain
Have at thee empty god I've been leaning on
Drives me insane, drives me insane
Have at me, I'm free

So many females to undress
We roll in as a pack, we will roam and regress
So many standards to suppress,
Do any drug that they recommend or suggest
She was my own false deity,
Seduced by a priest, she was out to destroy me
I'll drink her love away

She drives me insane, drives me insane
Have at thee, false christ I've been dreaming on
She drives me insane, drives me insane
Have at thee, false christ
God damn you
Out of my mind, out of my brain
Have at thee, empty god I've been leaning on
She drives me insane, drives me insane
Have at thee, I'm free

She drives me insane, drives me insane
Have at thee, false christ I've been dreaming on
She drives me insane, drives me insane
Have at thee, false christ
God damn you
Out of my mind, out of my brain
Have at thee, empty god I've been leaning on
She drives me insane, drives me insane
Have at thee, false christ
God damn you

I think it's about how after you get out of a relationship sometimes you can't stand that person anymore - "She made me want to take the blade to my skin." She can't let him down again because they aren't together anymore. It also seems like he's talking about how superficial she is and how she'll do whatever is "cool" or whatever. She's a "false christ" or "false god" because either a. he looked at her as this amazing person and she turned out to be completely material and conceited or b. she looks at herself as amazing, making her a flase christ/god There's probably a deeper meaning but this is just what it seems to be about when you just listen to the song or read the lyrics.

it could be as you were saying. when your with someone and you want to get away. but it could also be that he is broken up. and just wants to get back into life. and wants to foget about her. but i dont know.

is this album a concept album? i really think so.

i think he dumped her and he's talking about going out with his friends and getting drunk then going to a strip club

I found out yesterday that my girlfriend was cheating on me, while having unprotected sex on a beach with some high school kid and then went away to college with the threat of having his baby.

I can't tell you how much this song means to me as I Scream the lyrics that reflect whats going on in my life.

It is definitively about a bad breakup and I can relate.

I think he lifted this girl up to the point that she became a god to him and then he found out she was only human and she did something to hurt him so now he's being destructive to himself in order to forget her. great song!

I feel like Max has just fought with his ex for the first time after they've had sex and he's beating himself up because now that he has a clear head he doesn't want to go right back down the same path he just escaped from. So he goes out with his friends to find new girls, but can't stop thinking about his ex. The next morning is the hangover song

Cover art for Have at Thee! lyrics by Say Anything

In this song Max becomes everything he hated about his ex. He is superficial and more concerned with going to clubs and meeting random girls, then having a meaningful relationship. He will soon understand why his ex acted that way. And he's starting to forgive her.

This song has nothing to do about an ex or a girl at all! It's about Max's experience before he was diagnosed with bi-polar. At this time he lived a completely amoral lifestyle. He did lots of drugs ("I'll Blow her love away"), slept around alot ("So many females to undress"), and most important to the song, he stopped believing in God ("Have at thee false Christ", "To the empty God ive been leaning on", "God, damn you") It's pretty blatant. Sorry, but i just dont see how this can be about an ex.
