I will run the streets and hostile lands
I will touch the rain with all I have
I will breathe the air, just scream it loud
My feet will never touch the ground
Because the days they feel like ancient clocks
Like when kids grow up and learn to walk
Because your life is full of pure desire
A place so gloriously wired

The lights and sounds
Oh God this is such a mess
And it's like our world
But we're the last ones left
And the hair it stands
On the back of our necks
And I swear it shows
Heaven must be just like this

Do you see the hills beneath the clouds?
The stars and its to lead you out
Can you sense the pain? It's everywhere
And if you try you'll never care
And the love you had
When you were young
Is right outside for all to come
Because your life is full of pure desire
A place so gloriously wired

The lights and sounds
Oh God this is such a mess
And it's like our world
But we're the last ones left
And the hair it stands
On the back of our necks
And I swear it shows
Heaven must be just like this

If you see the light break through the clouds
And fire up the distant towns
Now the world will be begin
Exactly how it ends
When you call for help when you are lost
For evermore or what ever it costs
And the world will begin
Exactly how it ends

Please stay
Don't go
I've got you now
Are you curious?
Please stay
Don't go
I've got you now
Are you curious?
Please stay
Don't go
I've got you now
Are you curious?
Please stay
Don't go
I've got you now
Are you curious?
Please stay
Don't go
I've got you now
Are you curious?
Please stay
Don't go
I've got you now
Are you curious?
Please stay
Don't go
I've got you now
Now, yeah eh eh
Yeah oh
Yeah ah ah
Yeah oh
Here I am

this song isn't one of my favoritesss on the new cd. but it's still really good. the instrumental build up is one of their best ones.

I love how you can hear "The Adventure" at the beginning of this song and at the very end you can hear the beginning of "Valkyrie Missile"

i just love how this song starts out using bits from "the adventure" "valkyrie missile" and "start the machine". this is the perfect song to end the great album that I-Empire truly is.

    Acoustic Songs: mediafire.com/

The acoustic songs are in this order:

    The Gift

    It Hurts (Live not acoustic)

    Good Day

    Everythings Magic

    The Adventure

All of those listed above are acoustic Except for It Hurts, which is live and is REALLY loud.

Those drum beats at the start sound like the very start of dont leave me by Blink 182. I Empire is a brilliant album, it seems like tom gave us more of an insight to his personal life for this cd, especially on "Rite of Spring"

I've heard some people say that "Heaven" is such an amazing, uplifting song. it is a great song, I have to say. but for some reason, it seems really sad and upsetting. maybe I'm just in a bad mood or maybe I'm interpreting the song the wrong way...

this line here : "My feet will never touch the ground Because the days they feel like ancient clocks" seems like he is in Heaven... with the feeling of weightlessness and the time not being a factor in life. and then he goes on to explain how the lights and sounds and isolation is affecting him... and that's when he says "I swear it shows Heaven must be just like this" which leads me to the idea that he thinks Heaven won't be such a pleasant place.

then, he says: "Do you see the hills beneath the clouds? The stars and trails to lead you out Can you sense the pain? It's everywhere" I think he's saying that there's a way out somewhere.. of escaping death (possibly?), but this can't be found... which explains the pain everywhere.

what I'm confused on is the part where he says : "Now the world will be begin.... Exactly how it ends" is this in darkness?

what sort of messes up my theory is when Tom sings "are you curious?, please stay. don't go, I've got you now"

"I will run the streets and hostile lands I will touch the rain with all I have I will breathe the air, just scream it loud My feet will never touch the ground Because the days they feel like ancient clocks Like when kids grow up and learn to walk"

I believe that this talks about the feeling of innocence and no regrets...almost like as if you were a child again.

"The lights and sounds Oh God this is such a mess And it's like our world But we're the last ones left And the hair it stands On the back of our necks And I swear it shows Heaven must be just like this"

Almost touches on the subject of the rapture, and how the world will be peaceful right after the rapture happens.

"Do you see the hills beneath the clouds? The stars and its to lead you out Can you sense the pain? It's everywhere And if you try you'll never care And the love you had When you were young Is right outside for all to come"

This also kinda touches on the rapture, where the world goes into turmoil while everyone up high is watching carelessly upon what is happening down below.

"If you see the light break through the clouds And fire up the distant towns Now the world will be begin Exactly how it ends"

Apocalypse or something similar. Perhaps Sodom and Gomorrah?

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.
