I think this is pretty much the opposite of her other song, "You Won't Find This". There, she sang about how he'll feel sorry that he left her. Here, she sings about how bad she feels about hurting him. She's singing this when she thinks she made a mistake and wants to get back together with her ex.
She knows that he'll do one of two things. Either he'll take her in and they'll get back together, or he'll just turn her down and say "I Told You So". In this song, she expresses how bad she feels for leaving him and wants him to accept her apology.
I think its about how she left her boyfriend, thinking tht she would be better offf. then she finds herself missing him and wanting him back. but she doesnt know what he will say or if he moved on. totally relatable =[ he will either say tht he has been waiting for her to come back, or tht he doesnt need her anymore.

i can totally relate... its about leaving a guy, expecting to find something better, and in turn, finding out that he was perfect for you and you now know that you cant live without him and you ask for him to take you back, that youve been alone and realized that he's your other half and that youre nothing without him...
i'm pretty sure this is a pretty easy to understand song. Carrie sings it amazingly, as always. and of course props to randy. since this is carries version i will use "she". she regrets that she left the guy. she loves him and wants him back more than anything. but she is afraid that she will embarass herself by asking him to get involved again. in my opinion she should go ahead for it anyways. an i told you so could be better than if she were to keep it in for the rest of her life
i agree with most of the comments that she wants him back and she realizd she made a mistake, but whats does he say? does he take her back or as it says "i found somebody new and you will never break my heart in two agin", and i can relate exactly but what happens next?

She even sung it a lot more better,so passionate voice she have in this one.
She sang this so soulfully and it just really is a great song in itself but she sings it beautifully
