Twilight Lyrics

Did they tell you
You should grow up
When you wanted to dream?

Did they warn you
Better shape up
If you want to succeed?

I don't know about you
Who are they talking to?
They're not talking to me

All the questions
And suggestions
They mean nothing to me

Go higher than high, ooh
Go lower than deep, ooh
Keep doing it wrong, ooh
Keep singing along
And bouncing to the back beat

All the glitter
In the gutter
All the trouble you've seen

Some get sober
Some get older
In the twilight galaxy

Go higher than high, ooh
Go lower than deep, ooh
Keep doing it wrong, ooh
Keep singing along
And bouncing to the back beat

Higher than high, ooh
Go lower than deep, ooh
Keep doing it wrong, ooh
Keep singing along
And bouncing to the back beat

I'm alright
Now come on baby
I've seen all the demons that you got
If you're not alright
Now come on baby
I'll pick you up
And take you where you want

It was real
Not an illusion
Got what you want
You wanted confusion
How you gonna talk?
You got tunnel vision
_____ decisions
Stupid _____
'Til somebody wakes you up
Had enough
Telling you, "Listen up"
It's a bust
But we let it happen
It's not an illusion
It's not an illusion at all

this song has a great beat and is really catchy, just not sure of the overall meaning.

How you gonna talk? You got tunnel vision decisions Stupid 'Til somebody wakes you up

i think that the bridge is actually:

How you gonna tell You got tunnel vision stark decisions that start in the dark

by the way i looooove the bridge, its awesome.

a lot of the new metric songs seem to go along the lines of what happens when you kinda reach a goal in music, i think. or how you're going to make it in music and what you're going to do with it once you get there etcetc

i think, anyway.

I just listened to the Sound Academy's live version. It blew me away. I'm still under this weird, fuzzy amazement. Pure ecstasy.

"Go higher than high, Go lower than deep" hehe, genius

Not that kind of a song, that I'd want to take by pieces and "unmetaphor" =} But it's a whole emotional spectrum and empathy that comes from it. It's just beautiful.

metric's message throughout their career has always been to go against how society tells you to live your life, get a 9-5, buy a car, buy a home, raise family, etc. majority of people fall into this trap and try to impose it on others, but these are the same ppl who never followed their dreams in the first place. the song is the essence of metric.

I had to put my dreams on hold because I had a kid. Try to raise a child on a musician's pay, not all of us in music enjoy the same success as Metric. I would love to hold on to that lifestyle but I love to be able to feed my children more. Having a normal job became a necessary evil. Don't knock those people that got stuck because they had to prioritize for survival. If I never had my first child so young I would probably still live that old way and enjoy...
