Bad Bad Things Lyrics
(One, two, three, four.)
Do you remember me?
I killed your family
And now I am going to kill you too
I made your brother bleed
I made your father scream
And I made your mother say those things that she said to me
She said, "Do with me what you want, but please don't hurt my family, don't hurt my family
Take my pride, take my life, take my body but don't take the ones that are close to me.
Oh, do with me what you want, but please don't hurt my family, don't hurt my family
Take my pride, take my life, take my body but don't take the ones that I love."
And I continued without mercy
So I looked into your eyes
And I saw a reflection
Of a coward that you and I both hate very much
And then I grabbed the knife
And I let the blood out of your throat
And I smashed those tiny mirrors inside of your skull
And I got to thinking
If I don't go to hell when I die I might go to heaven
If I don't go to hell when I die I might go to heaven
If I don't go to hell when I die I might go to heaven
If I don't go to hell when I die I might go to heaven
Might go to heaven, but probably not

for those days when you just might stab someone in the eye with a shard of glass.

That is easily the most haunting description of a homicidal mindset I've ever heard.
This song probably comes from a place of guilt for having such thoughts. It sounds like it has a narrative and doesn't really make a statement about murder in general.
@CarbineerKenny The way he describes it as something satisfying like smashing a mirror is pretty disturbed, and usually the only time people's eyes mirror is when you're very close to their face. I interpret this as a guy murdering his girlfriend, because putting your face that close to someone you're threatening is pretty stupid. He took down the whole family unit, so it's basically real messed up, and leaves the "sister" as the final character to be murdered.

The mirrors inside the skull bit reminds me a lot of the serial killer portrayed in "Red Dragon"
It works really well as a song about suicide.
You could read it as the protagonist finally confronting his final victim, himself, whom he hates so very much for all those bad things he feels that he brought upon his family. Through things such as chemical dependencies and mental health issues he feels he has done things to the people he loves that to him seem just as bad as actually killing them.
In the end he sees no recourse but to take his own life. He spends his last breath on earth hoping against hope, that through this act he may have redeemed himself for what he put his family through and that maybe he would go to heaven after all.
But probably not.
I personally related it directly to addiction. Like especially the beginning... Not sure if anyone else could make this connection. Could also be about mental illness?
"So I looked into your eyes And I saw a reflection Of a coward that you and I both hate very much" is so real.
The fate worse then hell is seeing the people he destroyed and feeling shame/guilt. Lyrics are over the top but it's a feeling most of us are familiar with I'm sure.
