Five Months Lyrics
The night creeps through my bones with a winter's chill
Sending shivers down my spine
Like cold hands across my skin
Five months have passed
And taken with them every sense of warmth
Until my blood ran cold
And life stood still
And still I hold my breath
Counting the nights
I've stood with my heart in hand
And still I hold my breath
Counting the nights
Waiting for silence to break
To break me down again
If only you could see
See it in my eyes
How much it means
Your touch, your smile
To a heart that's beat has long since given out
And given in
The night opens wide
Swallowing every sense
Embracing me with emptiness
The night opens wide
Swallowing every sense
Embracing me with emptiness
The hours have become irritations
And I find myself reduced to life's imitation
The hours have become irritations
And I find myself reduced to life's imitation
How can we truly say that we are alive
When everything I see in me is screaming?
How can we truly say that we are alive
When everything I see in me is screaming otherwise?
It's screaming otherwise
'Cause five months have passed
And taken with them every sense of warmth
Until my blood ran cold
And life stood still
And life stood still
And life stood still
The hours have become irritations
And I find myself reduced to life's imitation
The hours have become irritations
And I find myself reduced to life's imitation
Sending shivers down my spine
Like cold hands across my skin
Five months have passed

winston said in an interview it's about his girlfriend and being away from home so long.
i reckon this song's about waiting for someone who let you to come back.
"five months have past and taken with them every sense of warmth"
it's about it's been 5 months since she left him. and ever since then he's felt cold and unloved.
"and still I hold my breath, counting the nights I've stood with my heart in hand"
he's still waiting. with his heart oen to her. he wants her to come back.
well, that's what i got anyway :)

This song is about winston touring with the band and being away from his long-time for so long.
I always thought that it was about a breakup. Like, five months have passed since the breakup, and he's still waiting for her to come back to him.
It's so different from anything else Winston writes.
The song is definitely about him being away from someone he loves, not about a break-up. Lines like "the hours have become irritations" support this, in that every hour away from his love he grows more irritated and restless.
clearly i agree with sigmatic!
Im think this song is about there time touring in europe when the first started as a band. They were there for 5 months playing shitty gigs and sleeping in sleeping bags out side. Just my view.
If the song is about them touring then why would Winston put
"If only you could see" "see it in my eyes" "how much it means. your touch. your smile." "To a heart that's beat has long since given out and given in."
Its obviously about someone breaking up with him and hes trying to tell the girl how much she means to him and how much he loves her.
Yeah... I agree it's definitely about a breakup.. and life's not really worth living without that girl he still loves.
"The hours have become irritations and I find myself reduced to life's imitation."
