In Record Shape Lyrics
Call it what you will
If pressed and pressed again
Then something surely spills
Who cleans and who forgets?
It's hard to tell if I am well
These spinning lights are disco hell
It's not an axe you have to lift
It's not a load that you can split
It's not an axe you have to lift to lift to lift
It's not an axe you have to lift
It's not a load that you can split
It's not an axe you have to lift to lift to lift
Pressure combusting
Aligned in redded growth
We'll choke, we'll choke
My teeth are nothing
More than shreds of bone
One __ will drain the blood
From you eyes
It's hard to tell if I am well
These spinning lights are disco hell
It's not an axe you have to lift
It's not a load that you can split
It's not an axe you have to lift to lift to lift
It's not an axe you have to lift
It's not a load that you can split
It's not an axe you have to lift to lift to lift
Keep myself in record shape
If pressed and pressed again
Then something surely spills
Who cleans and who forgets?
These spinning lights are disco hell
It's not a load that you can split
It's not an axe you have to lift to lift to lift
It's not an axe you have to lift
It's not a load that you can split
It's not an axe you have to lift to lift to lift
Aligned in redded growth
We'll choke, we'll choke
More than shreds of bone
One __ will drain the blood
From you eyes
These spinning lights are disco hell
It's not a load that you can split
It's not an axe you have to lift to lift to lift
It's not an axe you have to lift
It's not a load that you can split
It's not an axe you have to lift to lift to lift

Sounds kind of like anorexia. The speaker says he keeps himself in record shape (in his opinion), yet the lyrics of spinning lights suggest dizziness and exhaustion. Another speaker reasurres the person that they will not have to do any heavy lifting or chopping. It's the frustration of trying to maintain what you think in your head is a perfect figure.
God, these guys are great. These songs put Radiohead to shame. Lyrically, there is an enjoyable complexity that leads itself to many interpretations. There is also great vocal delivery, with movement between multiple keys, screamo, and falsetto, all in a completely enjoyable way.
Another very Christian song in my opinion. The idea of sin and decay and death of the human condition. The idea that only through Christ can this burden be lifted ("It's not an act you have to lift.") These guys are the best Christian rock band out there, even if they don't think so!
