Flux Lyrics

If your right hand is causing you pain
Cut it off cut it off
If your colours have started to run
Let them all run, run away from you
There is lightning in this room
Above our heads waiting to strike
I'm a thinker not a talker
Bury your faith, your faith in God

We were hoping for some romance
All we found was more despair
We must talk about our problems
We are in a state of Flux

I'd kill for an adventure
Just you and I in the Curzon Bar
Dancing till we knew
So all that we've learned disappeared
When you shouted at me
I saw my father in the second grade
Concerned and kind
But yet unable to reach me

We were hoping for some romance
All we found was more despair
We must talk about our problems
We are in a State of Flux

State of flux
State of flux
State of flux
State of flux
State of flux
State of flux
State of flux
State of flux
State of flux

We need to talk
We need to talk
We need to talk
We need to talk
We need to talk

We were hoping for some romance
All we found was more despair
We must talk about our problems
We are in a state of Flux

Awesome new Bloc Party song.

But from the lyrics it seems that this song is about a relationship starting to crumble:

If your right hand is causing you pain Cut it off, cut it off If your colours have started to run Let them all run, run away from you

[Basically saying that anything that is wrong for the girl to just let go of.]

There is lightning in this room Above our heads, waiting to strike I'm a thinker not a talker Put your faith, your faith in God

[Lightning Waiting to Strike means the hardships are on the way for this couple. the 2nd line is Basically stating that the Guy isn't going to talk about the problems, even if he sees them tearing them apart. He's basically telling the girl, "Put your Faith in God that this relationship works out, Because I don't have the words to make it better."]

We were hoping for some romance All we found was more despair We must talk about our problems We are in a state of flux

[It means that they wanted the relationship to be the love that they wanted but in the end it was just more hardship than they could bare, and they have to talk it out, because they are at a change in their lives (state of flux).]

I'd kill for an adventure Just you and I, in the ? Dancing till we knew So all that we've learnt disappears

[Saying that he wishes that they could just run away from their looming problems, to have things like they used to be.]

When you shouted at me I saw my father in the second grade Concerned and kind Yet unable to reach me

[Apparently there was an argument between the two, and her yelling at him was showing that shes worried at the present state of the relationship because she truly does love him.]

Really awesome tune overall, very house music sounding. Can't wait for the CDS to come out.

You are the fuckin master.

Flux is kele's interpretation of the end of a relationship. Neither partner has done much wrong, but things seem to have ground to a halt. There is a feeling that the big argument which will end the relationship is imminant as shown by 'lightning above oir heads waiting to strike'.

Kele said in an interview tht this song is about "tryin to recognise that a moment has passed between 2 ppl. It can apply to personal and professional relationships. Its the hardest thing recognising that something that was there isnt anymore" i think tht sums this song up nicely

'I'd kill for an adventure Just you and I, in the ? '

It is actually

'I'd kill for an adventure Just you and I, in the Curzon Bar'

That is the lyric.

to me, this song is about taking the easy way out.

A failed romance, maybe? "If your right hand is causing you pain, cut it off" could be some kind of breakup thing-if you don't like who your with, get rid of them and cut all ties and try to forget everything about the person. That's kind of the way I think about it, as that's sort of the way all my relationships have gone ^^;; "We must talk about our problems" is probably a response to the breakup deal. I almost died when I heard about this song---new song=new album. And another Bloc Party album is nothing but a good thing!

Wierd sound by I like it. Pretty sweet innovations from this band. At first listen around 2:45 I thought he was saying "We need more chalk" which would have gone along with the "Father in the 2nd grade" bit. Dunno why, I was excited, thought it had to do with kids not being heard or something...we need more chalk! As in to get the point across. Would have been cool.
