This song is about a broken up couple ("in these broken times" and "though it didn't work out") that is still in good terms with each other. Even though they're not lovers anymore ("though you're not mine"), they both are there for each other. "You always give me your best" and "I'll always give you my best" show that it is a mutual acceptance. Because of this great relationship they continue to have, she still seems to feel like they are together. ("It's like you never left")

i think its actually "My lover, our friends, I won't ever tell..." As in, she wont tell their friends...

I don't see much sense if it's "My love, our friends". It's been referred to a break up song, and girls rarely won't tell their friends when they break up.

I think it is about a break up. Though they might not have some aspects of a relationship, their friendship is a mirror of what it once was. They might not have intimacy, or they might not let their hearts be as involved, but in the end they still love each other. They are still close friends.

I can relate to this song so well. It describes the relationship between my ex-boyfriend and I so perfectly. Before we were together, we were the best of friends, and when we broke up it took me a long time to get over losing him in both aspects. As a friend and as a boyfriend, our relationship ended so abruptly. We talk every now and again and I know that he still cares for me and will always be there for me no matter what. Great song.

okay for me i see this song as a breakup of two bestfriends. even though it couldnt and didnt work they will always in a way be there for eachother and both gave eachother their best of themselves. i could be wrong but thats just how i take it.my favorite part is

i really relate to this.meaning they were close for so long that everything reminds them of eachother.and even tho its different the pain still remains.

It is "my lover or friend" The lyrics are correct. I have the CD and the inside cover thing has the lyrics. She is saying that it doesn't matter if they are friends or lovers, because she won't tell the secrets.

This is how i see it. Its two people that love each other a lot, but never actually dated because she wasnt available or something. but they're still in love and will always be there for each other.

I always thought tht the song was about friends that end up dating, but that it did'nt work, they fighted, they broken up and he's left to somewhere. But after all they were still friends, and they never give up of the friendship, like they had promise always give their best to weach other, and they still keep touch besides he's away.

A little trivia for you guys, this song was written by Vanessa after she had broken up with her long time boyfriend Stephan Jenkins who help produced some of her songs for new album. Also "I don't want to be a bride" was also written for Stephan, before or after the break up no idea.
