the first time i heard this, it was weird bc it describes what i feel like. it was so strange bc that same day i heard it, i had just been wishing that there was a song that i could relate to...luv it

im glad somebody else feels the same way. it is so frustrating to be in this situation. and sometimes it feels like nobody cares about you.

its about either a girl or a guy that has fell in love with the other and he/she has done everything to try to make the other fall in love with him/her - but the other just cant find it in their heart. its really sad, but so true for so many people. you always love the one you cant seem to have ...

It's ridiculous how true this song is, and how much everyone can relate to it. I almost don't like listening to it.. just because it describes my situation too perfectly haha.

Well, to me.... I know it's a little extreme....This song is about a guy/girl who was in a relationship with this person before, High school sweetheart or what-have you; basically “young love”. Anyways, they were both really in love and promised each other that they would love each other forever….. But things happen and the guy/girl breaks up with this other person.

A few years later (or months whatever) the guy/girl realizes that he made a mistake and comes back to the girl/guy, wanting them back. He/She’s telling him that they were perfect for each other and that they still love this person. However, the girl/guy doesn’t feel the same anymore, they’ve changed…. She/he still cares for him but it’s nothing more. And now the guy feels as though he is “The winner in a loosing game”

This is my life in a nutshell! I hate how perfectly this song relates to my life! I heard this song in my car on my lunch break a week after I broke up with my bf and started to cry.

Basically, This guy has fought his last battle to win her heart..."uphill battle" and for as much as he doesn't want to, "through all the tears and the hurt and the pain", he has to give her up and take the only strength he has left to walk away b/c he knows it isn't ever going to work for them.

"trying to make someone care for you" is almost impossible when the other person isn't going to or doesn't want to. And for how ever hard they try to make themselves love you... it just won't happen "two hearts just can't dance to the same beat"

This part always gets me "I know that I'll never be the man that you need or love Yeah, baby it's killin' me to stand here and see I'm not what you've been dreamin' of..." We broke up twice... and I had felt this way from the minute we got back together. I just knew I was going to be fighting a battle to get into his heart that I could never win.

And I didn't... I was never good enough to make him care or love me or worth it for him to change his ways. And now I'm tired of losing.

This song rips me apart but I keep hitting the play button.

yes yes, I am a sap too. I listened to this song over&over again when I was going through a similar situation. I love it. except now whenever I listen to it I think of that guy...dang it:P

This is just one of those songs that’s so relatable. I feel like I am in much the same situation right now, but I won’t know for a few more days until I hear back from this person.But anyways, I have definitely been in this position before now. And I agree that it’s one of those songs that rips you apart, but yet you keep pressing play, clicking the greater than. This part I know that baby you’ve tried to find me somewhere inside of you But you know you can’t lie girl you can’t hid the truth It’s like you know that the person truly cares about you (like a good friend or old flame), but they just can’t put you in the same place of their heart as where you have them. And you want it terribly, because you know how much you want to love them, but to truly love them it has to be reciprocated and they don’t want that. “I know that I'll never be the man that you need or love Yeah, baby it's killin' me to stand here and see I'm not what you've been dreamin' of” Again. So obvious. You know you cant be what you want to be for them and it destroys you. It’s what make you listen to songs like this. It puts you on grey street like Dave Matthews. I love at the end of the song when Gary really gets into it “TRYING TO CATCH THE RAIN.” It’s so beautiful. And at some point or another we are all winners at this losing game.
