Starfishin' Lyrics

Up in the universe
I cast my line
Standing on top of
The rolling hillside
Waiting for a sign
Watching for your eyes
I know I'll be here all night

Starfishin' for you
Wishing that it weren't true
You've taken a shine to someone new

Craw fish and a sun fish
A lightning bug goes by
Star light and sea foam
My washed up valentine
Nets have come up empty
The last kiss was thrown
The poor dog up in the sky lost his bone

But I'm starfishin' for you
Wishing it weren't true
You've taken a shine to someone new

Just when I thought my ship had come in
You went and spoiled everything
I'm gonna cry me an ocean of tears
I'll sail away the rest of my years

And I'll starfish for you
Wishing it weren't true
You've taken a shine to someone new

Starfishing, Starfishing, Ohh.

Seaweed and moon beams
A ship wreck of bad dreams
Sand dunes and sea glass
Galileo's face in his beer glass
The clock is calling to you
The night is falling for you
The whole world has turned upside down

But I'm starfishin' for you
Wishing it weren't true
You've taken a shine to someone new

Starfishing, Starfishing, Starfishing.

Cover art for Starfishin' lyrics by Amy Correia

Amy Correia is quickly becoming one of my favorite singers/songwriters. She's simply wonderful. I cannot believe what little attention she gets, even in the indie/alternative scene. Honestly, it's almost nonexistent!

The lyrics are pretty self evident here. Straightforward yet laced with beautiful imagery and heart-aching eloquence, like most of her songs. I think one of the things that draws me to Amy is the utter sincerity in her words. That's a rare thing among artists these days. Make no mistake, this isn't just a love song for the sake of a love song.
