I think it's cold-war kids, not cool war kids. The song is more related to that generation comming to an end and the changes related to it. Lines 7 and 8 do fit better that way...
i'm surprised nobody has commented this! this is fantastic, the drum beats at the start are so powerful and his voice is fantastic.
still i realise this is a lyric site. is it "cool war kids are running out of time" on the second line, "we're out of luck this time, we've fallen apart" for the chorus, and i'm not sure what the eighth line is but is it "warming skies" or "warning scars" or something? it doesn't sound like "war this time." i'm sure "feeds of figures running through the stream" isn't right but i can't catch those words either.

I agree with what youve said about the lyrics, I also here "we're all out of luck this time, we've fallen apart" and "warming skies".
I think this song might be about growing up, becoming one person and having to fight for things one your own. It could be relationships aswell, hence the "We've fallen apart" But i definetly think its about finding the world for yourself and having to do things on your own!
This song really gets to me, best song on the album for sure even though I too like Shooting stars a lot. Music just keep rising to an incredible climax.
