Dave has stated in interviews that he feels there is nothing more romantic than the headstones of a married couple standing next to one another and honestly I have to completely agree with him and wrote this song about he and his wife.
The most unique Foos song to date. Its certainly deferent with the piano but it works, only if your in the mood for it. Nice job!

Anyway, the meaning of the song is obvious, two people growing old to end up forgotten, but to themselves they will always be monuments.
This is probably the best song on the new album; very new, different, beautiful... I love that line: "Our bones forever enstoned, a monumental life." Dave is a genius.

You can't listen to this song without feeling your own mortality, if that makes sense to anyone but me, haha. "Time will turn us into statues, eventually," is the line that definitely strikes me. You will die, inevitably, and what you are will be indefinitely as you are remember, there will be no more room for changing (ie. in stone).
And fishstick_kitty, I think you need to learn how to appreciate a little variation. This song is incredible, no matter whether it's by the Foo Fighters or Elton John. Typecasting limits the playing field way too much.
