All my life, I've been searching for something
Something never comes, never leads to nothing
Nothing satisfies but I'm getting close
Closer to the prize at the end of the rope

All night long I dream of the day
When it comes around and it's taken away
Leaves me with the feeling that I feel the most
Feel it come to life when I see your ghost

Calm down, don't you resist
You've such a delicate wrist
And if I give it a twist
Something to hold when I lose my grip

Will I find something in there
To give me just what I need?
Another reason to bleed
One by one hidden up my sleeve
One by one hidden up my sleeve

Hey, don't let it go to waste, I love it but I hate the taste
Weight keepin' me down
Hey, don't let it go to waste, I love it but I hate the taste
Weight keepin' me down

Will I find a believer?
Another one who believes
Another one to deceive
Over and over, down on my knees

If I get any closer
And if you open up wide
And if you let me inside
On and on, I got nothing to hide
On and on, I got nothing to hide

Hey, don't let it go to waste, I love it but I hate the taste
Weight keepin' me down
Hey, don't let it go to waste, I love it but I hate the taste
Weight keepin' me down

All my life, I've been searching for something
Something never comes, never leads to nothing
Nothing satisfies but I'm getting close
Closer to the prize at the end of the rope

All night long, I dream of the day
When it comes around and it's taken away
Leaves me with the feeling that I feel the most
Feel it come to life when I see your ghost

Then I'm done, done, on to the next one
Done, done and I'm on to the next one
Done, done and I'm on to the next one
Done, done and I'm on to the next one
Done, done and I'm on to the next one
Done, done and I'm on to the next one
Done, done and I'm on to the next one
Done, I'm done and I'm on to the next

Done, done, on to the next one
Done, I'm done and on to the next one
Done, done, on to the next one
Done, I'm done and I'm on to the next

Hey, don't let it go to waste, I love it but I hate the taste
Weight keepin' me down
Hey, don't let it go to waste, I love it but I hate the taste
Weight keepin' me down

Done, done, on to the next one
Done, I'm done and I'm on to the next

    Song Meaning

Interview 1 "You've been around a lot of hard drugs. Have you ever been tempted to try coke or heroin?"

Grohl: "No. It was wasn't my thing. I had a friend who OD'ed on coke when we were 18 years old. Most of us didn't have the money. In suburban Virginia, it was acid and whisky. It wasn't cocaine and tits. I'll never forget the first time I sat around a back lounge of a bus watching people do cocaine. Nobody took their eyes off the tray of coke. Urgh. They were vultures. It just seemed dark and fucked-up to me. I know that the day I get my face in a pile of cocaine is the day that it all goes straight fucking downhill."

Interview 2 "Is the line "I love it but I hate the taste" from All My Life about oral sex?" Grohl: "It is, actually. That song is a little dirty. Use your imagination, but good call - you're the first person that's ever asked that. From experience? Many. I'm very fond of giving oral sex to women. It's a pleasure-giving experience - giving someone something that they'll remember for the rest of their lives, and if you do it right they will."

From Grohl's mouth himself... He does not do drugs, he likes pleasuring women.

According to songfacts.com "Dave Grohl has said that this is about cunninglus, which is the female equivalent of fellatio. Listen to the lyrics, and you'll hear all of the hidden innuendoes."

I thought this song over more - I still think it was meant to be about oral sex, but it could easily about suicide, SI, etc. heres my analysis...

"All my life I've been searching for somethin' Somethin' never comes, never leads to nuthin' Nothin' satisfies, but I'm gettin' close Closer to the prize at the end of the rope"

Continually searching for something to stop the pain, can't ever find something that satisfies, but he's resorting to more extreme methods, getting closer to death, the "prize at the end of the rope."

"All night long I dream of the day When it comes around, and it's takin'away Leaves me with the feelin' that I fear the most Feel it come to life when I see your ghost"

He still has dreams of a better future, but every day he feels like it's stolen from him again, leaving him depressed, and he thinks about someone close to him who had committed suicide (the ghost) or maybe seeing his own ghost, thinking about suicide.

"Calm down, don't you resist Your such a delicate wrist And if i give it a twist Somethin' to hold when I lose my grip"

OK this is cheesy but thinking about personal experience it seems simple, he's thinking about slitting his wrists, and he realizes he's left little cuts in one from the nails of his other hand...well thats what it means to me as ive done that tons of times.

"Will i find something in there, to give it just what it needs another reason to bleed One by one, Hidden up my sleeve"

In there...the blood vessels, trying to find something he needs in cutting, addicted to that now and it's just another stress that makes him need to cut more, "one by one up my sleeve" is the little scars from cutting

"Hey, don't let it go to waste I love it but, i hate that taste Weight keeping me down"

This doesn't fit really with a guy, but if u consider it from a girl's perspective it would work fine, but since i've been using a guy as the narrator ill continue with the guy. its about bein bulemic, another form of self mutilation - just think about it its obvious if u take those 3 lines by themselves.

"Will I find the believer Another one who believes Another one to decieve Over and over, down on my knees"

Trying to find other people in the same situation, that "believe" in cutting - I've seen tons of these sad individuals, was one for a while.

"If I get any closer, And if you open up wide And if you let me inside On and on, I've got nuthin' to hide"

This is the most obvious looking oral sex reference, but it could just mean spilling ur guts to someone, or maybe religion, giving yourself to God. Religion could be the thing he needs.

"Done, done; on to the next one Done, done, and I'm on to the next one"

The song is what he's thinking about while he's cutting himself...he's done with one slash, and he goes on to do it again.

There ya go...im a twisted freak.

Woo-hoo! First to post since the site came back up! Anywho, I dout that this song is about doing coke. In an interview Dave said that he hasn't so much as smoked a joint since he was 20 and even then he only did pot and acid and said even then it was too much for him and he'd just end up buggin' out. I agree that its about eating pussy, I mean its all there! Its masterfully done though. Its a song about going down but it sounds so badass! The riffs rock harder than most of the sh*t they play on the radio these days and Taylor Hawkins is indisputably one of the best drummers out there. Props to Chris Shifflet and Nate Mendal for holding the rest down, thy really don't get enough credit. Definitely the highlight of the song is Dave screaming "DONE, DONE ON TO THE NEXT ONE!" That will be etched in my mind for years. Oh well, I've rambled for long enough. Foo Fighters Rock! Peace!

NO, you are all wrong. This song is clearly about the singer secretly enjoying giving blow jobs. And before you write this off as some troll post, read on for the evidence.

    • entire first verse - realising that, despite not being gay, his biggest satisfaction is when he gives another man oral sex

    • the third verse, especially the line "Something to hold when I lose my grip"

    • it is the chorus that holds the full meaning: "Hey, don't let it go to waste, I love it but I hate the taste" -- he is saying that he loves giving oral sex but hates the taste of semen

    • finally he sums it up "Then I'm done, done, on to the next one, Done, done and I'm on to the next one" -- he is now addicted to it and goes on an oral sex rampage, just handing out blowjobs to every guy he meets

What the hell rogerlee? Do you actually think Dave killed Kurt? Come on, let's be serious... Kurt WAS mentally capable of killing himself, but i don't know if he actually did... maybe Courtney did, but we shouldn't just throw around accusations when we don't know all the facts... it's not going to bring Kurt back, so we might as well just consider it suicide because he would have done it anyway... ~Candice~ RIP Kurt

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
